Tetrathlon Briefing for Team Managers and Competitors

BARLOW HUNT PONY CLUB TETRATHLON BRIEFING FOR TEAM MANAGERS AND COMPETITORS

Thank you for entering our competition – we hope that you have a good time – please ensure that all competitors and parents are aware of our briefing notes.

DUE TO THE LOW NUMBER OF TETRATHLON COMPETITORS THERE WILL NOT BE A GATE OR SLIP RAIL ON THE XC COURSE (cost of building them is prohibitive). However, there WILL be a separate Mini-Mini course for the tetrathlon consisting of working hunter jumps and small xc fences in an enclosed area (height approx. 60cm).

Everyone will be entered in the triathlon on Saturday – and then the tri score will be added to the ride score where applicable for the Tetrathlon on Sunday. There will be teams for the Triathlon, but not for the tetrathlon.

SORRY NO DOGS TO BE BROUGHT TO WORKSOP COLLEGE OR TO OSBERTON ON SUNDAY.

REFRESHMENTS AVAILABLE BOTH DAYS

RIDING PHASE SUNDAY 29 th MARCH

We are very privileged to be allowed to use the Osberton Estate, due to the generosity of the landowner and tenant farmers and wish to cause them and the Estate residents as little disruption as possible

Please ensure that all of your competitors are aware that they must enter from the northbound A1 and not through Scofton village – directions are attached

Driving of motorised vehicles by underage persons is prohibited on the estate

Please remove all your litter and horse muck – this is grazing land

The Cross country course will be available to walk from 2pm – 7pm on Saturday 28th March. Please ensure all competitors know that entry onto the estate on Saturday is through the Village entrance off the Worksop-Retford road A6079. No entry off the A1 on Saturday. See below for details of entry on Sunday.

The riding phase will commence at 9.30 am – Minis, Juniors, Seniors in that order – following the Novice Pairs class in the Hunter Trial. Pairs, (which some of you may wish to enter) starts at 9:30 – then mini –tet (not before 10am) followed by the novice HT. Then Junior Tet – not before 12 noon – followed by the Intermediate HT; then Senior Tet ( not before 2.00) followed by the Open HT. Mini- Mini tet will start about 11am and will be in a separate area.

If you want to enter the Hunter Trial – you are welcome to do so – some have already – each horse may compete no more than twice.

We have a limited number of XC bibs to hire for a deposit of £5, but will be providing paper numbers for you to use with your own bibs. Competitors may jump a lower course than their age group - in this case please make the secretary aware asap – 500 penalties will apply

Minis may be led, or accompanied by a parent on foot – 500 penalties will apply – you must make the secretary aware.

A vet will be on call. Numbers will be on display in the Secretary’s tent.

SPURS

Members who do not hold their full B test will only be allowed to wear spurs with the written permission of their DC or a signed PC membership card. There will be no exceptions to this.

All hats must be tagged. Please see the secretary before you ride if yours needs tagging. TRIATHLON BRIEFING – Saturday 12 th April

If you have any queries, please see Helen Slater – who will be at Worksop College by 8:00.

( Helen mobile 07800773791)

Please park carefully at Worksop. There is a rugby tournament the same weekend and they may be arriving before we have left. This has also led to some fairly tight timetabling. We appreciate that this may be tricky for some competitors and also parents with multiple competitors, but we ask that you keep as closely to times as possible to enable us to run an efficient event.

SCORING

Results will be posted as early as possible. However, there may be delays in the interests of accuracy.

Challenging scoring or other decisions is the responsibility of the nominated team manager; any queries should be notified formally to Helen Slater; no-one should directly challenge an official or judge at any time, and they will not be allowed to do so.

SHOOTING

The shooting will start at 9:30.am

Please be present 15 minutes before your scheduled time

Targets will be outside the shooting hall in the PC team envelope and Scored targets will be available on the same table.

These must be signed for by TEAM MANAGERS – please check them carefully before signing as queries cannot be taken once they have been removed. Any targets not removed after 1 hour of completion of shooting will be taken as approved and scored up. Please inform parents that they must approach their team manager if they have a problem; ONLY team managers may challenge a decision and request a review and this must be done via Helen Slater. SAFETY

In addition to the tetrathlon shooting rules

All mobile phones must be switched off

Please wear clean shoes – no boots including UGG boots

Any competitor deemed unsafe by the marshalls will be asked to stop, and will not be allowed to continue. If team trainers feel that any of their competitors may be considered unsafe they should withdraw that competitor to avoid this.

If any underage person is seen carrying a gun, or gas cylinder, or in possession of either of these, without an accompanying adult, the item will be removed and only returned to the team trainer.

All guns should be in the locked boot of a vehicle when not in use.

Gas cylinders used to charge certain guns can be very dangerous if dropped – Please fill your guns at home.

SWIMMING

No muddy shoes anywhere near the pool

There is not a lot of space by the pool – we ask that only one supporter per competitor (either team trainer or parent) comes to the poolside.

Any competitor needing an inhaler must have them by the poolside

Swim starts at 10.20

RUNNING

Numbers will be available in the PC team envelope.

Competitors will run at one minute intervals.

Due to a Rugby tournament the same weekend we need to be clear of the field early so the Mini competitors will run first, with the run starting at 9.30am.

Please ensure all competitors have walked the course. Map of the Entrance to Osberton

Osberton lies just to the east of Worksop. The Postcode (S81 0UG) is confusing as it suggests a wrong entrance point to the estate.

On Sunday it will only be possible to enter Osberton directly from the A1 Northbound

Directions from the South (coming up the A1)

Please note:

DO NOT turn off the A1 at the junction with the A620, but continue on for approx. ½ mile and turn off into Thievesdale Lane. See point 1 on Map below.

Directions from the North (coming down the A1) Turn off the A1 at the junction with the A620, turn right under the A1 and go back onto the A1 going North. Go North on the A1 for approx. ½ mile and turn off into Thievesdale Lane. See point 1 on Map below. Then follow PC signs.
