Wauwatosa Village Business Improvement District Board of Directors Meeting July 15th, 2015

Members present: P. Haise, M. L, B. Robison, B. Boomer, M. Veth, C. Maciejewski, . T. Schuler, S. Phelan, J. Roznowski, C. Leffler, and C. Ross Staff: J. Plaisted and M. Morgan Guests: N. Cavanaugh and K. Tibbits

Approval of agenda: T. Schuler moved approval of the agenda as drafted, C. Maciejewski seconded, and the motion carried unanimously. M. Veth moved approval of the meeting minutes from June, B. Boomer seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Marketing Report: M. Morgan provided an outline of the upcoming Diva Day promotional event on Wednesday August 19th. Businesses are signing up to participate a new presenting sponsor has been secured.

The map will be redrafted with corrected information and additional map features suggested by board members. B. Boomer offered to help proofread the final draft.

Village valet has had mixed success to date but has been featured in Village BID social media and news stories fed to local media.

M. Veth noted that next week’s 3rd annual First Responders Fest is ready to go and asked staff to assist with media and social media attention in the coming week.

Financial report to budget: J. Plaisted presented the second quarter report to budget for the Village BID. J. Roznowski moved to accept the report, C. Ross seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Executive Director’s Report: J. Plaisted reported on the following:

Weeds: Our landscaping contractor, The Green Team, will be addressing the weeds in sidewalk and brick paver areas in the coming weeks. State Street Station (HSI Development) has officially requested City TIF financing for their project. According to J. Roznowksi, the plan received support at a recent Council meeting. Audit review for the Village BID was recently conducted by Bryan Stuzki, CPA. His report should be available next month. No issues were raised during the interview and record review process. Joe’s Alchemy will be opening next week and is hosting a series of events on Jly 23-25th to celebrate. The Little Read Book anniversary is tonight at the store. It’s their 30th year in business in the Village. There have been several burglaries in the Village in June and the Tosa Police have a lead on a suspect at this time. Refined Boutique, Village Boutique clothiers, and Studio Ric Rac were all broken into overnight.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:05 AM and moved into the larger Streetscape presentation meeting with BID stakeholders and consultants.
