[3603] 2 1 municipalities and provide a foundation on which the State and the 2 region may succeed; and 3 4 Whereas, dedicated employees of cities and towns provide the 5 services for residents that contribute to the quality of life and local 6 business success; and 7 8 Whereas, cities and towns truly do mean business, and as such 9 serve as vital economic engines of the State, contributing to the 10 overall competitiveness and growth of South Carolina; and 11 12 Whereas, financially sound and economically strong cities and 13 towns are essential to the vibrance and future of the State. Now, 14 therefore, 15 16 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 17 concurring: 18 19 That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this 20 resolution, declare Wednesday, February 16, 2011, as “Cities 21 Mean Business Day” to recognize and honor the valuable 22 contributions South Carolina cities and towns make to our state’s 23 economic prosperity through their relationship with local 24 businesses. 25 26 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 27 Kevin Johnson, mayor of the City of Manning and 2001 president 28 of the Municipal Association of South Carolina. 29 XX 30
