12th July 2013 Your Ref Greengate Masterplan Review Dear sir / madam,

Greengate Masterplan Review Consultation

I am writing to inform you that Salford City Council is currently consulting on a draft Greengate Masterplan Review. As a registered consultee on our database, we understand that you may have an interest in making comments on this document.

The city council adopted Planning Guidance for the Exchange, Greengate area in January 2007. The guidance provided a framework for the transformation of Greengate as a dynamic new part of the city centre.

To date around £110 million has been invested in Greengate by the private sector, creating 800 new residential units and 4,000 sq/m of commercial floorspace. A new iconic £13.3 million public realm was also opened at Greengate Square in September 2012.

The current economic climate however has required that we review our original assumptions with regards to the scale of development proposed at Greengate. The four principal aims of this review are to:

 Establish a lower but realistic quantum and mix of development which could come forward at Greengate over the next 10 – 15 years;  To revise the scale and massing strategy for Greengate;  To look at how development on the Irwell waterfront and on the west podium could come forward; and  To review the car parking strategy for Greengate.

Public Consultation
