April 10, 2012

Dear BIDPO Provider and Colleague:

In a continuing effort to guide our clinicians through the complex and often contradictory demands of managed health care drug benefit programs, MedVentive and the leadership of Beth Israel Deaconess Physician Organization (BIDPO) are proud to introduce your 2012 MedVentive/BIDPO Universal Drug Formulary (Adult and Pediatric Edition). As you are aware, compliance with the MedVentive/BIPDO Universal Drug Formulary helps to manage outpatient pharmacy incentives BIDPO has in place through our global payment contracts with BCBS-MA, Tufts, and HPHC Plans. BIDPO’s current pharmacy goals related to 2012 health plan contracts are focused upon reducing the rise in outpatient prescription expenditures. BIDPO leadership would greatly appreciate your consideration of prescription drug utilization as a whole and its associated costs as you care for your patients.

The MedVentive formulary is developed and maintained by the MedVentive Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee, a panel made up of physician peers representing BIDPO, other MedVentive-affiliated provider units, and the clinical pharmacists who regularly assist you. The stated mission of this committee is to provide rigorous reviews of new and existing drug therapies on a routine basis throughout the year. These reviews are conducted in a manner that is highly academic and objective. The aim of all P&T decisions is to serve the best overall interests of both you and your patients in a process free from conflict of interest.

We hope you find the 2012 MedVentive/BIDPO Universal Drug Formulary of significant value. If you have any questions or require additional copies, please feel free to contact one of the five BIDPO Clinical Pharmacists via the contact information below. You may also access the formulary in PDF format via BIDPO’s website at www.bidpo.org (Medical Management – Pharmacy Management Program) using your ITS login and password.

Thank you again for your continued support of our system-wide pharmacy initiatives.

Yours Sincerely,
