2010 Iowa State University Symposium on Sustainability Call for Posters

Poster sessions provide an excellent venue for discussions and exchange of scientific information. To promote this interaction, the 2010 Iowa State University Symposium on Sustainability will begin with a poster reception on Tuesday, February 23rd, with posters remaining in place throughout the entire conference. Posters will be organized by theme and focused on research and projects. All attendees presenting posters are encouraged to submit an abstract of their research for consideration. The call for posters will close on January 15th. All submissions will be contacted by February 1st. Poster content:

Posters are requested to represent two areas:

1. Research posters: This area will focus on sharing research findings related to fundamental research that supports and furthers sustainability.

2. Initiative posters: This area will focus on administrative, operational and student initiatives that support and further sustainability and the Live Green Initiative (including data on impact and deliverables).

All posters must include the project title, poster title, and information about the author(s), including name(s), affiliation(s), etc. Project goals/objectives, methodology, results/findings, future work and other discussion should be presented in terms that can be understood by a broad and diverse audience. We strongly encourage the use of tables, photographs, diagrams, charts, and other graphics to help convey important information and key points.

All posters will be organized by theme. Themes or areas of focus include:  Research

o Green Product Development

o Energy Efficiency & Conservation

o Alternative Energy Waste Management, Diversion, and Reduction

o Green Design

o Social Engineering

o Food Systems

o Other

 Initiatives

o Administrative

o Operational

o Student/Student Organization

o Other

Guidelines for Poster Preparation and Display Timeline:

 Posters should be set up between 5:30pm -7pm on Tuesday, February 23rd, and must remain up through 4:30 pm on February 24th. Posters are to be set up in the Memorial Union Great Hall. Please check in at the meeting registration desk and find the poster map for your assigned location. Take your poster to this area, find the designated location and mount it in this space.  Posters should be taken down promptly no later than 5pm on February 24th. Any items remaining on display after that time will be removed by building staff.  During the poster session on Tuesday evening, we ask that posters be attended by a representative to discuss their work and answer questions. While recommended that this also be true during conference breaks on February 24th, it is not required.  Since posters will be on display all day, we hope you will take advantage of breaks in the program to view the other posters and visit with their authors. Display space and mounting requirements:

 Each individual poster board is made of corkboard and is exactly 4 ft. wide by 4 ft. tall. Please keep these dimensions in mind when sizing your poster.  Please bring a sufficient supply of push pins to affix your posters to the poster boards.

For questions, please contact the following poster session committee members:
