LRC Technician Aberdeen High School

7.0 hours per day – 177 School days On-going

General responsibilities and qualifications are outlined in the LRC Technician job descriptions. Must have excellent communication skills and computer skills.

RATE OF PAY: LRC Technician: $12.14 - $14.66

JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the building principal or librarian, this position provides clerical support to the school library. The position processes correspondence for the library, processes books and magazines, processes and files catalog cards, assistant students and staff in finding information, checks library and audio visual materials in and out, processes new materials and performs a variety of other duties involved in library operations. The position promotes positive public relations for the district. Depending upon individual school needs, the position may perform any or all of the following duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Any one position may not include all of the functions and responsibilities listed nor do the listed examples include all functions and responsibilities which may be found in positions of this classification.  Process correspondence and forms; gathers data for and processes book orders.  Prepares orders for new books and magazines; types cards and performs other processing duties to prepare items for distribution.  Catalogues material with automated system. Shelves books.  Assists library users at the front desk; electronically checks materials in and out with the Dynix computer system; and receives and records payments for overdue material fines.  Prepares library for class instruction. Assists students who come into the library by providing information concerning library materials.  Maintains records for overdue books, inventory and other information.  Checks audiovisual materials in and out; sets up audiovisual equipment for teachers. Follows-up with teachers to retrieve equipment.  Monitors student behavior in the library; disciplines students as authorized. Assists in maintaining physical condition of the library.  Oversees work of student library assistants; provides training in library procedures; assigns and reviews tasks.  Receives, collects, checks-in and distributes videos.  Provides a variety of related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 High school diploma or equivalent.  AA degree, 72 college credits or pass a skills test required.  Ability to handle students with behavioral and physical handicapping conditions.  Knowledge of general clerical procedures.  Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling and English usage.  Knowledge and experience of Accelerated Reader Program preferred.  Keyboarding, editing and formatting skills. Excellent typing and data entry skills required.  Ability to learn and willingness to use microcomputers and various software programs.  General knowledge of the Dewey Decimal system and cataloging procedures.  Effective oral communication skills.  Ability to interact with school-aged children in a warm, confident manner.  Knowledge of media processing and acquisition procedures. Willingness to learn District library procedures.  Ability to attend to detail and follow tasks through to completion.  Ability to organize and set priorities.  Ability to meet deadlines.  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.  Ability to maintain confidentiality.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, staff and the general public.  Accuracy and attention to detail required.  Ability to work in team environment.

LICENSES/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: May be required to complete training in First Aid and CPR if required by the District. Fingerprint background clearance from FBI and Washington State Patrol required.
