CPM Math Parent Coffee and Discussion

It was a fun week at the high school as the winter sports season is in full swing, clubs are meeting regularly, and our Orchestra did an outstanding job Thursday kicking off the holiday concert season. If you are on campus next week or coming to a concert be sure to check out the fantastic art display in the PAC lobby. I hope you and your family have a great weekend.

PSAT & PLAN Test Scores Have Arrived The PSAT and PLAN score reports have just been received in the counseling office. Sophomores and juniors will pick up their scores on Monday, December 9th, during lunch periods in the Commons. Congratulations to all students as they begin the process toward their future after high school. Students who took the PSAT should register for My College QuickStart at collegeboard.org/quickstart. This free personalized tool will assist in creating a customized study plan to prepare for the SAT. Please contact your high school counselor regarding questions about your scores.

Juniors should be in the process of registering for the ACT, SAT and, if necessary, Subject Tests. Contact your counselor if you have questions around your individual plan for testing. In addition, there will be an online registration for junior parent/student college conferences during the second semester. Information will be forthcoming after the winter break.

Speak up Survey regarding Educational Technology Last year, the district participated in Speak Up, a national initiative of Project Tomorrow. Speak Up provides an easy way for students, parents and educators to participate in your school’s decisions about technology, as well as contribute to the state and national dialogue about educational technology. The data we received last year helped guide our decisions on several district initiatives. The Speak Up survey is open through Dec 20th. It is available to staff, students, parents and community members. Please take a few minutes of your time to complete this survey. You can access it using the link below. Thank you for your participation. http://www.speakup4schools.org/speakup2013/

New scoreboard for Quesinberry Gymnasium The Quesinberry Gymnasium will be getting a new scoreboard for the 2013-14 season. The scoreboard was donated by a local company Pradco. The scoreboard was manufactured by OES the same company that did the Cavaliers scoreboards. The scoreboard will have bright LED lights, and has stat panels. Installation will begin on Nov 25th and hopefully be completed on Nov 26th. We hope everyone comes out to cheer on the basketball teams and wrestling team at Quesinberry Gymnasium this season.

Survey regarding extra-curricular clubs and activities The high school will be conducting an audit of all extra-curricular clubs and activities. Exam Schedule (1 st Semester) Below is a reminder (from the handbook) about the exam schedule for the first semester. Through collaboration with department chairs this past spring, we developed the following exam schedule. Consideration was given to the different types of exams that each content area uses, trying to have the exams closer to when the material was taught, and preserving instructional time. We will continue to operate with an open campus during the exam periods as long as students submit a permission slip the week prior. If a student has four exams on the same day, they can work with teachers on taking the exam during another period. December 16th -18th: World Languages and Music (during their regular scheduled meeting times) December 19th -20th: Math, English, Science, Social Studies, and AP Computer Science (Adjusted Schedule: See Below) After break: Art, Physical Education, Health, Computer Science, and Family and Consumer Science (during the regular scheduled meeting times)
