Audience: Introduction to Networking Class

Description: Using the Kill A Watt Power Meter and the instructions below, record in the chart below the Amps, Watts, and kWh of electricity for the items listed below. Convert the watts to kWh by moving the decimal point three positions to the left. Calculate the cost per year of each item using a factor of .12 per kWh. (Hint: number of days per year times number of hours per day equal number of hours per year)

Extra Credit: Calculate the amount of coal needed to run each device for one year, assuming 1 lb of coal is needed to generate 1 kWh of electricity.
