HURLING The under-21 hurlers made a positive start to their Roinn B championship campaign when they got the better of St. Martin’s in their opening round clash in Canon Kearns Park, Castlecomer on Sunday last. The locals led by 0-9 to 1-3 at the half-time break though both sides were guilty of missed opportunities. Conahy continued to hold the lead throughout the second half, though it was not until the final quarter that they managed to find their mark on the scoreboard to any great effect. Eventually, they secured the win on a 0-17 to 1-6 score line. They will now go on to face Fenians in their next outing on Saturday next at 3.00 p.m. in Freshford.
