Help Sheet from the Information Technology Department

Listed below are some of the most common issues encountered by our PC users and their solutions.

************************************************************************************************** If you attempt to log on to your computer and the user name showing is admin, this means that the IT Department has re-imaged your computer. Please follow the steps below to log in:

Delete the user name admin and enter your login name. Enter your password in the appropriate box. You should now be able to log in.

************************************************************************************************** If your PC has been re-imaged, the first time that you open Internet Explorer you may need to do the following:

Select Keep my current default search provider Scroll to the bottom of the page Choose Save Settings Then choose Go to your Home Page When a box comes up, you will select Turn off Phishing

************************************************************************************************** When attempting to access any software program, select Start from the bottom left corner of your screen, then select All programs. All programs are located here and the shortcuts are not on your desktop.

If you are currently at one of the schools where the computers were re-imaged, it is possible the following may happen when you log on:

A login script to update the client will be executed when you log on. Software will be automatically installed on your PC during this process. Please do not stop the installation or interfere with it in any way. THIS WILL ALSO CAUSE THESE COMPUTERS TO REBOOT AFTER THE INSTALL HAS COMPLETED. The IT Department wanted to make you aware of this so that you will know what is occurring. After this installation finishes and your machine allows you to log in again, some issues we recently encountered related to network printing should be fixed.

************************************************************************************************** All of your documents should be located in your home directory once you have logged on to the network. To locate your home directory, simply open the My Computer icon on your desktop and find the “H” drive which should have your login name located beside it. Double-click that drive to get access to the files and folders you have located there. If you backed up your documents correctly before leaving for the summer break, your documents should be available. ***PLEASE NOTE*** If you do not have your documents from your My Documents folder on your computer in your Home Directory, please do so before leaving school for this school year.

************************************************************************************************** If you are a new user to our district, follow the procedures above to log on to your computer. If a previous user’s login name is in the login box, delete the old user name. Type your user name into the box and your password into the password box. If you do not have your password, please have the contact at your school enter a ticket into the IT ticket system for you.

************************************************************************************************** If you need access to ClassXP or SASI, please email Trudy Waldrep, our SASI Coordinator.

************************************************************************************************** If you encounter any other issues such as no Internet access or other error messages not listed here, please notify the IT Department by having the contact at your school enter a ticket into the IT ticket system for you. Alternatively, you can send an email to [email protected]; however, response time will be faster if you have a ticket entered into the ticket system. If you do not know who enters tickets at your location, please contact your school administration and they will provide that information.
