MOUNTAINEER CHALLENGE

1. PURPOSE: It provides essential information for the person who individually desires to develop and maintain physical fitness. It is a program of voluntary participation and can be used as a supplement to other fitness programs.

2. OBJECTIVE: Provides a motivating factor to encourage all personnel to participate in a progressive physical conditioning program. Develops and maintains a high state of health, physical fitness, and readiness among all personnel.

3. PARTICIPATION: Active duty, DOD employees, Retirees, Contractors, etc. Must be 16 years of age to participate.

4. RULES: All participants must sign up for the Mountaineer Challenge program in order for the fitness center staff to keep track of his/her progress. The mountains must be completed in order on the list, from the lowest mountain to the highest mountain. The athletic staff is responsible for supervision and operation of the program. The staff will assist the participants with maintaining administrative records pertinent to individual participation achievement data.

5. HOW TO START THE MOUNTAINEER CHALLENGE:

A. Pick the stepper of your choice. B. Begin stepping and press start and enter. C. Enter weight D. Pick program (Manual) E. Choose program goal (Time) F. Enter the length of time to step. G. Select step action (Climbing). (If selection is not available, regular action can be used). H. Choose effort level. (The higher the level will help the participant reach their goal faster than at a lower level while climbing the mountains).

6. AWARDS

A. An awards program has established. B. For every mountain the participant climbs, he or she will be recognized by each level of completion. For example, 20,000ft. Club, 30,000ft. Club, 40,000ft. Club and 50,000ft. Club. MOUNTAINS TO CLIMB
