VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Word of the Day smelt Three-in-One Word of the Day: If economy's your thing, make a spot for smelt in your vocab because you get three in one. It's a food fish, a verb that means "melt ore to separate metal," and an inflection of smell. All the words are Germanically derived, which you might guess from the two consonant clusters, both of which are common in the family.
