CYM Positions http://www.asce.org/Younger-Member-Groups/Committee-on-Younger- Members/ - Programs Member; Corresponding Members C. WRYMC 2014 (Save the Date) – January 31st – February 1st in Phoenix, AZ D. Annual Report – Due end of October - Want to get recognition of our group on a National level E. ASCE Membership Drive on EventBrite (Renewals/New Members) F. Final President’s Message - Thank you for the hard work and dedication in helping to grow our member base.

V. Vice President’s Report (Gidti) A. Los Angeles Aqueduct Tour (September 6th-9th) – RECAP - Very informative, learned a lot about the history of the aqueduct. Very interesting and fun. B. Events Flyer (http://ymf-oc.org/index.php/eventsflyer) - Can print out list of upcoming events from eventbrite to bring to all events C. 2013-2014 Officer Retreat: Las Vegas, NV September 27th -29th - Please help with preparation by being responsive to emails (Carpools – Roxanne; Food – Remi; Surveys – Andrew) D. Annual LA Section Officer Installation – Saturday October 5th at Caspian in Irvine - Members & Guest: $65; Students $25 E. VI. Past President’s Report (Tricia) A. Gold Stars/Birthdays. - Send recommendations to Ravi from this point on.

VII. Treasurer’s Report (Daniel) A. Financial Tracking of Events - Make sure we keep track of member payment and get info over to Daniel so we can close the books properly. - Make sure to cc the approving board member for the reimbursements B. Eventbrite Events and Payments - All events that cost money will be handled through EventBrite - YMF will purchase credit card readers for onsite registrations - Moving away from physical paper transactions (cash, check, IOU’s) - Cost of events to be increased for account for extra fees. Cost of fees absorbed into ticket cost C. Close out of books D. Send any treasury related items to: [email protected] - Deadline to finalize all payments: October 11th

X. K-12 Outreach Chairs (Brianna) A. J Serra High School Club in Rancho Santa Margarita (Andrew/Brianna) - On Hold for summer B. K-12 Brochure - Ready to send out C. Garden Grove Middle School D. Boys and Girls Club Scout Leader - Brianna e-mails Mujahid (Scout Leader), but haven’t heard back - Remi to talk to Mujahid tomorrow E. Reach out to Tustin HS and others (September/October) - Brianna to e-mail schools now that they are starting up, with info and the brochure F. Beckman HS (Amy) - Back to school this week, Contact will most likely get back to Amy in October

XI. Community Outreach Chairs (Andrew/Andy) A. OC Canstruction!, Friday, August 30th – RECAP - A lot of fun. A lot of companies out there, so also a good networking event B. California Coastal Clean-Up, (Joint Event w/ CWEA, EWB and OC Branch), September 21 - California Coastal Clean-up is a state wide event, in which ASCE can actively participate with many other local organizations and individuals, giving us an excellent opportunity to network and promote ourselves and the profession. - Clean-up supplies will be provided. - An after-event picnic is scheduled to follow the clean-up! - Low ASCE sign up at this time. Please consider joining this event to support the joint event. C. Please contact Andrew/Andy for volunteering ideas and suggestion

XII. Internal Activities Chair (Nestor/Daniela) A. Happy Hour: Tuesday September 10th Z’Tejas - RECAP - Good attendance, new people came, it was good to network with SWE and some UCI students attended. B. Knott’s Scary Farm – Saturday, October 5th at 6:30 pm meet-up at Knott’s Scary Farm - Attendees buy tickets online, RSVP to join group. - Possibly meet up for Happy Hour around the area before. - FYI: RBF gets tickets at a discount price of 45$ in case some people want to pre- purchase the ticket. C. YMF Driving Range (OPEN) - Need champion for this: want to set it up and have a tutor/instructor help out. Want to plan for sometime in October/November, or maybe before an upcoming Golf Tournament D. Wine Tasting Trip: Saturday, November 2nd - See EventBrite for trip details. E. October Happy Hour: Tuesday, October 8th Location: Buffalo Wild Wings F. Potential Items - Karaoke Night – Plush in Irvine, or Ziller’s in Fullerton

XIII. External Activities Chair (Amy) A. Annual Joint Camping Trip with LA Section YMFs (November 15th to 17th) – Joshua Tree - Location: Joshua Tree; 35 spots available; Cottonwood Campground; Check In/Out at Noon - Cost $40 (includes camp site and food for weekend) - Sign up through eventbrite B. Joint Event with LA YMF (Amy) – Clippers Game, aiming for early next year, possibly April - April 12th against Sacramento is a potential option. Still waiting on LA YMF’s response. C. Joint Event with SD YMF – Stone Brewery Tour (Gidti) – RECAP - Met and networked with SD YMF members. Learned a lot about process of brewing beers and got to sample them D. Joint YMF Soccer Tournament (San Diego YMF to Host) - December 7th (first Saturday of the month) – 9:30 am – 3:00 pm - Ski Beach Park, past Pacific Beach - Lunch: BBQ (cost: $5) - There is a required male/female ratio for participants E. Joint Mammoth Trip: January 10th to 12th, 2014 - Will elaborate at next board meeting

XIV. Programs Chair (Remi/Gyan) A. Looking for MS and PhD Students Publishing Scientific Papers - Highlight Taki in OC Branch September Newsletter B. Schuyler Heim Bridge Replacement Project Tech Tour with ASCE Construction Institute: Friday, September 20th at 10:00 AM - Still 2-3 spots left C. Gerald Desmond Bridge Project – Postponed to Next Year - Construction does not start until September, planning after start of construction. In contact with Andy Verdin at Shimmick. D. OC Bridge Project at Tustin/Edinger – Contact with Josue – October 2013 - Gyan is in contact with Project Engineer E. Technical Workshops – Results of Survey of Online ASCE Courses - Key ingredients to Becoming a Project Manager Workshop (integrated webinar) 1. Final date TBD based on speaker’s availability – September 2. Two part workshop: 1-hour ASCE webinar; 45-min presentation by keynote speaker. Possibility to gain CEU’s F. E-mail Remi/Gyan for any other possible event ideas

XV. University Outreach (Eric/Daniela) A. Student Chapter Liaison Updates - CSULB (Daniela): o 9/14 Fuddruckers fundraiser o 9/21 Coastal Beach Clean Up/ Getting to know you bonfire. o 9/25 General Meeting, Coordinating to do a YMF presentation for this meeting or the one after. Also looking for speakers to do a presentation on a technical topic of interest. . Eric can help with presentation o STEM Career Fair o They will be sending resumes for us to review for the student night career fair. - UCI (Karmel): o Planning Career Fair, October 10th. Currently have 8-10 companies - CSUF (Vienna): - Participating in Brea clean-up - Putting a team together to practice for Soccer tournament - Got shirts for upcoming year B. Returning Students Workshop, September 11th - RECAP - For Returning Students/ ASCE Student Chapter Leadership - Announced creation of Outstanding Student Group Award - Representatives from Student Chapters, Practitioner Advisors, YMF, and Branch - Discussed communication challenges, reporting instructions, recommendations, and upcoming events. C. Student Chapter Liaisons: Graduating Seniors from ASCE student chapter - UCI: Karmel Ongawan – CEE Career Fair October 10th - CSULB: Eric Edge is working on several leads for a Student Chapter Liason; Daniela to help out until a replacement is found. - CSUF: Vienna D. - $250 prize and a plaque E. Park Event Tentatively Scheduled for some time in Early-Mid November - Daniela helping to plan this event. Currently, Nov 9th is the only date available in November due to other events

XVI. Fundraising Chair (Josue) A. ASCE 1st Annual Jog-A-Thon (Tentatively May 2014 on a Saturday – date to be confirmed) - Team up with Branch and University ASCE groups - Will be a fundraising/charity event – Suggest Engineers Without Borders (EWB) - Location: Crean Lutheran HS, Woodbridge HS - Need to obtain ASCE National Liability Insurance Coverage for event B. Annual Golf Tournament – RECAP - Lower attendance. Recommended having the event earlier in the summer since people go on vacation later on in the summer. - Raised $5000 to be split between branch and YMF - Maybe postpone driving range event until next year

XVII. PE Review (Mike/Krista) A. October PE Review Course - Teamed up with MP Review (CivilReview.com), will be providing ASCE members a minimum 10% discount, up to 20% total. Exclusive deal with ASCE OC YMF, 5% of sales will be provided to ASCE OC YMF at end of course in October - Course has started, YMF has raised a little over $100

XVIII. Communications Chair (Phil/Llanet) A. Next E-mail Blasts - Will be on a set date every two weeks (Every Monday). 9/23, 10/7, 10/21, 11/4 etc. B. Social Media Post Schedule - Please update the GDrive Spreadsheet with the social media posts you want scheduled. The spreadsheet has not been updated in a while, please help Llanet out. - Notify E-Board and Phil if post needs to go out in the next week.

XIX. Membership Coordinator (OPEN) A. 25 Member Drive (Ravi) - Still have Member drive, we have new member/renewal prize drawing! Please sign up and tell your friends to win. Need a minimum of 75 registrants/entrants to hold the drawing. B. Membership Reports (Ravi) – On track C. Events Calendar Spreadsheet – On track D. PE Booth Event (Gidti): Friday, October 25th, 2013 – NEED VOLUNTEER - Typically San Bernadino spearheads this event, but we would like to have OC representation E. Please let Gidti know if you or anyone you know is interested in taking on position

XX. Historian’s Report (Roxanne) A. Send all articles by September 30th B. Would like to gather articles to submit for OC Register and other newspapers in the area - Hopefully raise some sponsorships through this C. CYM Award Update D. Position is still open for next year’s board

EventBrite Issues (Need Board to pay special attention to glitches/issues below) - DO NOT put & < > " ' in the event title or address field. - Please verify payment details for your events. - Avoid using excessive formatting in the Event Description Box 1. Copy content into Notepad and then paste back into EventBrite D. Contacts Page – Need photos from; Krista Kausen, Llanet Gomez, Amy Choi, and Mujahid Chandoo. - All Board members for 2013-2014 Fiscal year need to submit their photos to Lilian/Gidti to include on our webpage. E. Reminder: Job Postings Page w/ EventBrite Feed. - Let us know if your companies have positions opening so we can help advertise on the website. - Let us know if you want to keep it private (YMF only) so we don't post on our website - Good way to get a referral bonus
