Contract description and role (i.e. prime, sub-contractor):

Project Description: In an effort to re-engineer the VBA's Education Benefits business processes it was determined that imaging of education benefit claims documents could provide better customer service and management of workload.

While exploring a variety of options, Education Service chose to deploy Edge Systems, Inc.'s, IMEDGE product suite for the Imaging Solution.

The IMEDGE System captures documents as images, processes the images to enhance their quality, provides automated and manual indexing and quality control functions, stores document images as objects, provides comprehensive reporting and claims management features, and utilizes workflow management to implement Education Service’s business processes. Critical to the selection of IMEDGE was its non- proprietary, open systems architecture. Using primarily COTS equipment and development tools, Edge Systems implemented a 32-bit system that provides a wide variety of feature improvements. Edge Systems performed a full analysis of the VBA’s Education Benefits Processing workflow, database architecture, and other factors, including evaluation of current processes, recommendations for technology solutions, and ultimately provided the total solution. From its many locations, this ongoing project provides automated processing of the VBA’s Education Benefits nationwide.
