Kiwanis Board of Directors Meeting Minutes March 2, 2005

President Boneta Morris called the Kiwanis Club of Downers Grove Board of Directors Meeting to order at 7:35 am. Board members present, Treasurer Warren Holbrook, Directors: Waring Webb, Lisa Rasin, Doyle Heimann, Phyllis Smith

DUE TO AN INSUFFICIENT NUMBER OF BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT A QUORUM OF THE BOARD WAS NOT MET, THEREFORE NO ACTION WAS TAKEN AT THIS BOARD MEETING. THE FOLLOWING IS A REVIEW OF DISCUSSION ITEMS.

Treasurer Treasurer report approved as presented

Committee Reports: Community Service: Discussed poor turn out to February Blood Drive, and possible advertising changes for next year’s drive. Waring requested $100. be sent to Kiwanis International for the Tsunami Relief fund. This will come out of Community Service Misc. Line item. Sponsored Youth: Discussed co-sponsoring an Aktion Club. The Aktion Club would be SEASPAR, and we would co-sponsor with either Lombard or Lisle. Spiritual Aims: May 11th is the Clergy Breakfast. Public Relations: Hoping for a mention of our participation in the Library Bookmark Contest. Membership: Chamber Luncheon on March 9, 2005 – Kiwanis will have material to hand out at a exhibitor table at this Women in Business Roundtable. Membership Breakfast scheduled for Wednesday, March 23rd. Please contact Phyllis Smith if you will be bringing a guest to this meeting so she can let Ellen know. Invite to Easter Candy Hunt? Many think this is a Village event. Be sure to let everyone know about this fun Kiwanis day! Youth Services: Library Book Mark contest- Lorie & Phyllis judged the contest. In addition to grade level awards there will be a special Kiwanis award winner. Easter Candy Hunt is Saturday, March 19th SEASPAR Bowling April 16th. Please contact Bruce Hasher if you haven’t already signed up to volunteer. No additional Committee Reports

Other Business: Fundraising – Pancake Day/Onion Sales – May 7th. Waring is getting flyer/order forms for Onion Sales. Waring passed out last year’s receipts to members present. Ink Jet Cartridges – We can ask offices and businesses to collect and give their empty inkjet cartridges, which can be redeemed for up to $3 each. Boneta has a few collection boxes and can get more. Money received would be split 50/50 between Children’s Miracle Network and our own funds. Contact Boneta for more information. Wine Tasting Dinner – Willowbrook Club had dinner last week. They raised approximately $2,000. ($50/person gross, $15/person profit). Committee meeting to organize and event like this is scheduled for Wednesday, March 9th.
