Order No.7 New Insignia
The Commanding Officer has authorized the wearing of the following new insignia with effect from the 31st Anniversary of the HKACC on 7 April, 2002:
(a) Beret Flash: A beret flash featuring the Corps Colours (Navy Blue, Sky Blue & Maroon) shall be worn by all members when wearing a beret. The beret flash is a 4 cm x 4 cm insignia to be sewn on the regulation blue beret with the lower edge aligned immediately above and against the sweatband of the beret, leaving no space in between. The flash should be sewn on in such a way that the navy blue portion be on the upper left, the sky blue diagonal stripe running from the upper right corner to the lower left corner, and the maroon portion be on the lower right. The cap device (gold for senior members and silver for cadets) should be worn centred on the flash WITHOUT the red backing;
(b) Warrant Officer shoulder rank insignia: The rank slide of Warrant Officers shall have the title “HKACC” added to enable differentiation from that of Cadet Warrant Officers. Cadet Warrant Officers shall continue to wear the insignia of original design without the “HKACC” shoulder title; and
(c) Commandant’s Commendation Lanyard: The current lanyard worn by recipients of the Commandant’s Commendation shall be replaced by a new design featuring a more accurate representation of the Corps Colours. The lanyard will be available in two sizes: full length and reduced length, the latter for wearing on the mess uniform.
Trial wearing of the new insignia will begin immediately. Unit Commanders should contact GR as soon as possible for the acquisition of beret flashes on behalf of members under his/her command. Commandant’s Commendation awardees and WOs may contact GR direct for purchase of the new lanyards and rank slides. All members who attend the HAB/RTHK public function in Queen Elizabeth Stadium on 3 February, 2002, and the Annual Parade on 3 March, 2003, shall endeavour to wear the new insignia, where appropriate.
