The Future Tense

There are two ways to express the future tense:

(a) The immediate future (I am going to eat …) (b) The simple future (I will eat …)

The Immediate Future

The immediate future is the equivalent of “I am going to …” e.g. I am going to eat We are going to see

It is formed by taking the present tense of the verb aller and adding the appropriate infinitive on the end.

Present tense of aller Any infinitive, e.g. je vais Manger Voir tu vas Regarder Boire il/elle va Faire Aller Trouver nous allons Voyager Étudier vous allez Donner Être ils/elles vont
