Description: This course will study the different cultures around the world.

Course Objective: This class will give knowledge of areas from the Africa, Middle East, and Asia. This course will give the student different knowledge on cultures and people around the world and how they live.

Course Evaluation: All assignments will be written on the board with there due date. All late work will be taken up until that chapter’s test. All late work will be dropped down to 20%. All homework is to be turned in at the beginning of class unless specified by the teacher. All assignments, tests, quizzes, and papers, will be averaged in to your grade based on a points and percentage scale.

Participation and Attendance: your attendance and participation is required of you in this class. Students will receive grades based on their participation in class discussions, small group activities, and general attitude toward others. Students will also be given points for attending each class period. Excessive absenteeism could lead to grade reduction. Students that are absent must pick up an absentee slip from the office before getting any missed work. Any student with 3 unexcused absences from class during a semester will be put on a noncredit status. 3 unexcused tardies will result in a detention.

Classroom expectations: 1. Respect all teachers, peers, and school staff members. a. No student has the right to keep another student from learning. b. No student has the right to keep a teacher from teaching. 2. Be Responsible for your self. Be ready for class when the bell rings. 3. No Food or Beverages except water.

Grading Scale Percentages Quarterly % 90% – 100% A 1st Quarter – 40% Assignments – 35% 80% – 89% B 2nd Quarter – 40% Tests - 40% 70% - 79% C Semester - 20% Participation - 25% 60% - 69% D Semester Test: Anyone with an 85% or better may opt out 0% - 59% F of the semester test with a maroon or white card
