Ed Petkus conducted the meeting in Dean Chakrin’s absence. The meeting was called to order at 1:00PM

Karen Norton introduced Ellie Esposito, the new Program Assistant for the MBA program.

1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the December 10 meeting were approved.

2. INTELLECTUAL CONTRIBUTIONS Ed reported on intellectual contributions since the December 10 Unit Council meeting.

3 PROMOTION APPLICATIONS The ASB Promotion Committee strongly recommended the following candidates for promotion:

To Full Professor Huiping Li, Associate Professor of International Business

To Associate Professor Desi Budeva, Assistant Professor of Marketing Yongbum Kim, Assistant Professor of Accounting Romulo Magnaye, Assistant Professor of Management Kathy Zeno, Assistant Professor of Marketing

By closed ballot the Unit Council voted to endorse the committee’s recommendations.

4. FAEC – S. Eisner  Susan asked for feedback on the interim class schedule (4 credit courses). Fall syllabi are due to conveners by March 15.  The committee met with IRAC; discussed various topics including issues of security with Study Abroad Programs  Maria Krupin is leaving the College and a national search will be conducted for VP of Adminstration and Finance.  A request was made for the Task Force of Academic Excellence to report on the pros and cons of of having one day a week classes.

5. SAC – J. Cabrera Rating scores for the three assessment goals (MBA writing, integration, and undergraduate writing) are due by the end of next week. For Perspectives – the raters’ submission deadline is Feb. 15. 1 6. ANNOUNCEMENTS Yongbum Kim announced that Scholar’s Day: Celebration of Student Creativity will take place on April 29th. Sridevi Shivarajan announced that the Faculty Resource Center’s will be offering a presentation on preparing Tenure applications and three Teaching Circles this semester.

Karen Norton reported on the ASB Research Assistant Program.

Karen also reminded faculty that the 5-year AACSB Continuous Review is approaching and encouraged faculty to ensure they meet or are in the process of meeting the AACSB faculty qualifications.
