The 2013 Reunion Host Committee

Dear Family:

It’s that time again---time for the Parrish Family Reunion. It will be held in Philadelphia, PA, “The City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection” from Wednesday July, 24th to Sunday, July 28th 2013.

We have chosen the Sonesta Hotel Philadelphia, a (4 diamond) hotel, as our host venue. The hotel room rate is $105.00 per night. This year, the descendants of Verner & Agnes Parrish will be the host family.

Attached you will find your registration information, itinerary and the Tahid S. Barnes Scholarship Fund application. The deadline to register for the reunion and reserve your room at the hotel is May 1, 2013. Please adhere to these deadlines to make sure you get the discounted hotel rate and are able to attend all of the events we have planned for you. We cannot guarantee any hotel reservation pricing nor access to any events after the registration deadline.

Also, please plan to stay until the festivities are over on Sunday afternoon as we have a rousin’, foot stompin’, hand clappin’ hallelujah mornin’ praise celebration in store that you will not want to miss!

This year’s Tahid S. Barnes Parrish Educational Scholarship Fund awards will be presented at the 2013 Parrish Family Reunion in Philadelphia. In order to determine eligibility for the awards, we need the names of the high school seniors graduating in 2013 or who have graduated in 2012 and plan to attend college. Please complete the attached application form.

Scholarships are determined based on the amount of money given in contributions or raised during activities planned at the 2013 Parrish Family reunion. If you would like to apply or make a contribution to the scholarship fund, please mail it to:

If we are going to keep this fund alive, we must continue to contribute to it. At some time or another we all will know a family member who will benefit from this gift. All donations by family members will be matched by the founders of the scholarship fund, Marilyn and Frank Barnes. The awards will be distributed equally among the eligible recipients.

One of the requirements to receive the scholarship award is the student’s commitment to reach back and help a relative prepare for college once he or she has completed their own education. This way, the family continues to help each other and our children can see that we lead by example and that education is important to all of us.

Remember, our children are our future and this world has no place for an uneducated child.
