JOMC 740 SCHEDULE - Ekstrand Our readings and general schedule are below. Please follow sakai for more detailed instructions and be on the lookout for revisions or changes to this. We will be changing this as we work together as a group and recognize particular group needs and adjustments. Let’s be conscientious and moderately flexible together. I will have more details between now and fall break. I will flesh things out for the rest of the term as we progress and pledge to give you fair warning.

(Aug. 28 – Aug. 30) Week 2 Intro to Law/Intro to Research -Go over Balkin & your questions -Doing legal research – what are the parts? -Intro to Law basics
Assignment for Week 3: -Watch the Supreme Court video (Research folder on sakai) -Watch prezi on How to Pick a Research Topic in Law (Research folder on sakai) -Read Brooks Fuller piece -Read John Frank piece
(Sept. 6) Week 3 Basic First Amendment Doctrine -Go over Fuller and Frank -Briefing a Case -Introduction to Basic FA Doctrine
Assignment for Week 4: -Read Packingham and brief it. Be prepared to discuss it. -Start thinking about your topic. -READ Trager, Chapters 2 & 3
(Sept. 11-13) Week 4 Basic First Amendment Doctrine -Discuss Packingham
