ENGINE COMPANY PERFORMANCE STANDARD #12A

TYPE 5/6 WATER SUPPLY

OBJECTIVE: Operator will complete the necessary tasks to spot the engine, establish a supply from draft and begin filling the water tank.

CONDITIONS: Operator in driver’s seat and wearing full wildland PPE

STANDARDS: This Company Standard is timed from the point at which the OPERATOR leaves the engine and ends when draft has been obtained. All tasks must be completed in a continuous and deliberate manor

1. Spots the engine proper distance from body of water. 2. Place the transmission in park. 3. Sets parking brake. 4. Engage high idol switch. 5. Places wheel chocks. 6. Retrieves and couples hard suction hose together along with strainer 7. Utility rope (Optional) attached to strainer basket and each section of suction hose. Rope secured to apparatus or other object. 8. Connects suction hose to pump suction inlet and places opposite end into the body of water 9. Closes tank valve. 10. Closes recirculating and educator flush valves. (If applicable) 11. Sets transfer valve to capacity. 12. Opens inlet valve and operates primer. 13. Achieves a prime. 14. Opens tank fill valve slowly. 15. All actions done in a smooth and deliberate motion without running. TIME STOPS ONCE A PRIME HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED AND THE BOOSTER TANK HAS STARTED TO FILL. 16. Fill the tank of the Type 5/6 17. Pump a simple hoselay of 1½” hose without losing a prime.

TIME ALLOTMENT: 4 minutes 15 seconds

TIMING STARTS: On the command: “Begin the Evolution”

TIMING STOPS: The standard is completed when the operator indicates that he/she believes that all components have been safely met and states “done” to the proctor”. ENGINE COMPANY PERFORMANCE STANDARD #21A

Team Readiness and Response Type 1, 2, 3, 4, 5/6

OBJECTIVE: To quickly place any of the Type 1, 2. 3, 5/6 engines in preparation for an out assignment. Remove and add/ or replace the necessary equipment to respond for either an immediate need out of county or planned need out of county response in a timely manner.

CONDITIONS: Crew will be in the station performing regular assigned duties

STANDARDS: This Company Standard is timed from the point at which the proctor gives the The company officer the assignment.
