The Student Government Association of Mt. San Jacinto College met via telephone conferencing, commencing at 12:34 p.m. on April 24, 2012 in Room 805-MVC and Room 1111-SJC.

II. Board Reports and Information Items A. Executive Officers Report 1. Daniel – Thanks everyone for their participation at the Multi-cultural festival. It was a great success. 2. Joseph – ICC Reports that thank you went out to the participating clubs. Something for next year – some electricity, SWANNS requested access. Is it possible for the clubs themselves? Forms available for graphics or multi-media work from the FAVE Club. PTK - Red Cross Blood Drive collected 50 pints of blood. Currently holding officer elections – applications due April 26th Week of the Young Child is coming up on May 12th on the San Jacinto campus and is requesting participation from both clubs and SGA. If interested in volunteering, please contact Alison Marcelino at [email protected] Poetry Club will be hosting an open mike show, time and date to be announced. Anthropology Club having a speech on Argentinean Graffiti by John Elison Multicultural Club is starting out strong. May 15th from 10-12:30 Holding elections, Political Science Club is hosting an information event on the Occupy Movement event today. Consideration to spacing out events so that we’re not doubling up events for multiple clubs on the same day. Global Brigades: Fundraising is ongoing for the trip to Panama SWANNS Club is holding elections.

3. Shayla – The Educational Technology Committee is in the process of formulating a recommendation for the Senate to consider with regards to the use of electronic devices in the classroom. Apparently, there are many professors that are hesitant or outright ban the use of such devices in the classroom. This recommendation is in the planning stages and as soon as a final version is approved, a copy will be provided to SGA.

B. Senators Reports 1. Rachel – Thanks to Shayla, the Earth Day BBQ on MVC was amazing. Couldn’t have done it without her. 2. Mark – Expressed concerns about the new school-wide policy regarding course attempts and accountability of professors to record grades accurately on Blackboard. Daniel explains that professors using Blackboard is great, but charges students with keeping track of their own grades. Mark explained that there are a lot of teachers who don’t make it possible to track their grades by not promptly returning items and suggested coming up with some recourse or suggestion with regards to the new course attempts policy. C. Advisor Report - May 8th (SJC,) May 10th (MVC) “Dunk the Professor” event. Update on election – there has been some uncertainties going on. Dead tie on a position – opening for a run-off and we’re working with IT to get it sorted out. Will keep you posted.

A. Spaghetti Dinner Update - Good turnout, more than expected cause it was raining. Not sure how much we raised – about $340. Good job. Need more participation from the board members – more than two tickets next time. B. Recognition Ceremony – Discussed the possibility of using Golden Era for the Recognition Ceremony. Unable to do so. Having up to 21 clubs with up to five (5) members from each club in attendance. Voted on inviting the six (6) vendors who provided food and supplies for the Spaghetti Dinner to present them with a certificate from MSJC SGA. Motion passed to invite the vendors.

Second quarter utility bills for the amount of $437and third quarter utility bills amount of $362. C. Reimbursement to Hung for St. Patrick’s Day BBQ SJC supplies for $16.30 D. Reimbursement to Stephanie Lynch for two EZ-UPS for SGA in the amount of $129.28.

1. PTK Scholarships: Three in the amount of $100

2. Reimbursement to Nick Reeves for mileage and Induction/Awards not to exceed $1,500

3. Reimbursement to Nick Reeves for certificate paper and frames. $216.34

B. Anthropology Club Events and Expenditures

1. Car Wash, May 12th, 8:00am-2:00pm at the Albertson’s in Lake Elsinore

2. May 15 Professor Ozolins: Completing the lecture series, during College Hour

3. Snacks for Guest Speakers. $34.60
