SUMMARY Responsible for preparation and direct dietary services off foods to residents/ membership consumer under the direction and supervision of the Dietary Manager, Senior Housing Management. The position will provide direct dietary services to residents / consumers within the community. Generally to be a part of a team effort for the overall effective operations to dining services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Must be willing to follow standards and procedures set forth by Sun Retirement / Executive Director of Food Services
1) Ability to accomplish a complete monthly inventory for proper food cost analysis 2) Ability to place food / equipment orders in accordance with budgeted costs 3) Ability to place / create schedules for staff in accordance with staff budgets 4) Knowledge of proper sanitation procedures for successful practice. 5) A high level of energy, 6) Good communication skills, 7) Good motivational skills, 8) Strong organization skills 9) Be a team builder 10)Have general knowledge of P.O.S. systems. 11)Acts as a resource person for staff regarding dietary / dinning related concerns/issues 12)Recognizes an on-going responsibility to work for the continuing improvement in the overall functioning of his/her specific area of Dietary / Dinning and makes appropriate suggestions in this regard 13)Participates in Quality Assurance activities as requested 14)Attends a regular supervisory meeting with Management which includes staffing issues, troubleshooting, and dietary review. 15)Participates in staff training and education 16)Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. 17)Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. 18)Prepare foods according to prescribed sanitation standards. 19)Performs clean-up duties as needed for each meal service. 20)Uses equipment and materials carefully, and in a safe manner, following correct operation and cleaning procedures. 21)Reports all repair and maintenance needs to supervisor. 22)Performs other duties as assigned. 23)Participates in a team approach to resident / consumer being cognizant of and responsive to the needs of that resident / consumer
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this position must successfully pass all governmental and corporate required background investigations, such as, but not limited to, state required criminal history clearance investigations.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Strong people skills are required. A management background in food service management is preferred. Knowledge of food handling, cooking procedures, and experience in customer service is also preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS A current food handler’s card for Coos County is mandatory, current Oregon driver’s license is mandatory, and current ServeSafe Certificate is preferred, but not mandatory.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
