Johns Hopkins Early Identification and Intervention Program Supported by the Center for Prevention and Early Intervention Pilot Schools Selected Incentives for Schools Bay Brook  Computers and Software Commodore John Rogers  Stipends for all relevant school to Johnston Square participate in PD and assessments Morrell Park  Intervention and Assessment Materials Samuel B. Morse Thomas Hayes Waverly Elementary William Paca

(NOTE: Criteria-Previously trained in PATHS; School Clinician)

Year 1  Identify Cohort 1 – Teachers of grades K-2  Provide professional development:  Focus on Cohort 1 teacher training PATHS, GBG, effective utilization of web- based computer technology to assess child behavior and academic performance and on-line record keeping (grades, attendance, office visits, disciplinary removals, suspensions, etc)  Focus on Cohort 1 training of school social workers, school psychologists, and school-based mental health clinicians in interventions for students demonstrating more serious behavioral problems  Provide computers and software to all K-2 teachers, principal, assistant principal, school social worker, school psychologist, and school-based mental health clinician  Oversee the implementation of student on-line assessments and record keeping as per above

Year 2  Expand to Cohort 2 – Teachers grades 3-5  Provide professional development: Focus on Cohort 1 teacher training PATHS, GBG, effective utilization of web-based computer technology to assess child behavior and academic performance and on-line record keeping (grades, attendance, office visits, disciplinary removals, suspensions, etc)  Disseminate computers  Oversee the implementation of TOCA on-line  Provide intervention for students demonstrating behavioral problems

Years 3-5  Continue to collect data on the feasibility, acceptability, and efficacy of the interventions and web-based assessment and record keeping system  Develop and submit grant applications to expand to a larger number of schools and evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions and the assessment tools Johns Hopkins Early Identification and Intervention Program Supported by the Center for Prevention and Early Intervention Professional Development Topics  PATHS  GBG  Web-based Technology/TOCA  Training for School Mental Health Clinicians (Social Workers, School Psychologists, and School Based Mental Health Clinicians) in the Incredible Years and Coping Power interventions which are designed to deal with children with serious behavioral problems

JHU Center for Prevention and Early Intervention Grant Ben Feldman– Grant Manager Funds in BCPSS intended use:  Fund Position for Behavioral and Mental Health Intervention Coordinator who will sit in Office of Student Support Services  Fund Position for an Expert the Design and Evaluation of School-Based Programs who will sit in Division  Provide incentives for school administrators and participating staff
