Regional Convention September 25, 2004 in the Black Cultural Center Talked about planning an activity for the Friday night before the meeting Round Table: Parliamentary Procedures Fundraising - Dr. Saye Distinguished Chapter Award Website (after Justin graduates) Scrapbook - collection of pictures from all chapters Banner for National Convention - GC&SU chapter is looking into it

National Convention Caucus preparation 8:30am Sat morning (Feb. 14th) to get the region ready for the business meeting Christy will be the Regional Delegate Each Chapter gets 2 votes; 1 Advisor and 1 President/Student National Executive Committee elections will be held Jason and Christy are running Each Chapter is asked to bring items for door prizes ($25 limit) to the meeting Jason will be putting together 2-3 gift baskets from items received Items will be split by states - GA, TN, and KT/IL Jason will email Chapters to request gifts

Money for the Scholarship is now available and will be paid to last year’s recipient as well as this coming year’s

National website is gammabetaphi.org : Forms are downloadable Chapters are asked to keep NEC updated on officers, advisors, etc. NEC provides all chapters with blank invitations – an example of wording is on the web site Emailing invitations is acceptable An example is to electronically invite students then give a hard copy to students actually inducted Invitations should include an Introduction, the Informational Meeting date and the date and time of Induction Two National Scholarships are available – application is on the website Certificate of Merit (COM) are awarded at the local, state, and national level

National Convention will be February 14, 2004 Location is Nashville, Tennessee at the Sheraton Music City Hotel This year’s theme is “Children First, Children Now” Distinguished Chapter awards: Georgia Institute of Technology University of Tennessee – Knoxville Chapters in Good Standing: Bethel College Georgia Southwestern State University Austin Peay State University Southern Illinois University New address for National – listed on website

New Business: Call to vote on suspending the 30-day waiting period to discuss consolidation of positions – motion failed Next MidSouth Region Council Meeting will be held at University of Tennessee – Knoxville MidSouth Region Theme – Kids First Similar to National Theme There is a huge need for pajamas in the Knoxville area
