10:00 - 10:15 Welcoming, Norm Nelson, State SiteWatch Coordinator Jan Biella, NM State Archaeologist- NM Historic Preservation Division Dr. Jeff Pappas, NM State Historic Preservation Officer

10:15 -Noon OAS/MNM What is it? Pick it up and find out! Make your own! We will spend the morning looking at artifacts and replicas, find out how to make some of these items (hands on type stuff for you), and talk with archaeologists from the Museum of New Mexico about their experiences with outreach in NM. Organized by Dr. Eric Blinman, Director of OAS, and Chuck Hanaford, Educational Outreach Manager.

Lunch Break – Noon to 1:00 in the Lobby (adjacent to the auditorium). A hearty and delicious lunch (courtesy of the Site Steward Foundation) consisting of assorted salads and sandwiches, beverages and dessert, will be provided on site. Vegetarians will be accommodated.

1:10 – 2:10 Dr. Matt Schmader (Director, Albuquerque Open Space) – Coronado’s Expedition and Piedras Marcadas Pueblo! Something near and dear to Matt’s heart, from crossbow bolts to ???

2:15 -2:35 Gary Newgent – NM Site Steward Foundation Update and Business Meeting. Concise, informative, and important to SiteWatch. You may want to join and explore the SW through foundation tours!

Break – 2:35 to 2:45 2:45 - 3:30 Chapter Corner - Reports from the Chapters: we’ll open with a Safety Report, then hear from the chapters: Silver City, Taos, Hobbs/Carlsbad, Farmington, Santa Fe, Torrance and other chapters with news or issues to share! This is a great spot to arrange visits to other chapters or air out problems and find solutions from the group. Chime in!

3:30 – 4:30 Dr. Rick Hendricks (NM State Historian) – Pueblo-Spanish Warfare. Our State Historian will share some of his views into early contact on the frontiers of what would become New Mexico.
