Unit #4 –Keyboarding – Advanced lessons on Typing.com, 3D modeling, Engineering Physics Number of Days in Unit: 9 Weeks

Day and Date: Monday-Friday May 02 – May 06, 2016 Daily Focus Instructional Objectives Activities & Timeline (Readiness/Supporting) * TEKS By the end of class today, I will be able to … Warm-up 127.4.c.2.c-e Identify and use proper keyboarding posture, Typing Instructor 127.4.c.3b finger-positioning, and touch-typing Sweet Home 3D, SketchUp, & Minecraft 127.4.c.4b fundamentals…also derive a grade from words Catapult per minute and accuracy. Trebuchet Bridge  Making appropriate modifications, estimates, and substitutions when faced with limited supplies to complete a project  Begin Design Process/Engineering-Scientific Method Research & Design - Trebuchet Academic Vocabulary *Detailed Activities Students will practice the home row see previous vocabulary re: keys with Typing Instructor. Sweet Home 3D, SketchUp, & Students will follow examples of Minecraft teacher installing software to their computers by locating My Computer/Windows Explorer, the C drive, folders, files, and subfolders. Students will practice the advanced lessons with Typing Instructor and test on them daily. Students will create a “public/community” building (e.g. church, school, library, restaurant, grocery store) 2D layout in Sweet

Page | 1 Home 3D. They will convert it to a #D model in SketchUp (optional for time). They will finally create the building Minecraft where many modifications, estimates, and substitutions will be required Materials Essential Questions with Bloom’s *Closure Computer Taxonomy/Costa’s Inquiry Level Students will turn in or save completed work Projector How have computers changed engineering and Insight architecture? Who else might need to use CAD software? How much of the design process should we allow computers to control?
