As an ending to our Year 6 World War 2 topic, we will be having a theme day on Thursday, 26th May. We would like as many children as possible to come to school in 1940s style school uniform and to be prepared for air raids and a possible evacuation (gas mask box and suitcase if possible).

In the afternoon, we would also like to invite parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles to our Tea Dance. The children will be having dance lessons and will be asking for dancing partners at this event, so make sure you wear your dancing shoes!! This event will start at 1.30p.m and end at 3.00p.m.

We will be providing entertainment and refreshments so if you would be willing to undertake cooking a typical recipe from the 1940s at home then please fill in the form overleaf and we will send you home some recipes to choose from. Please send your cooking into school on the morning of the Tea Dance. Could you also please fill in the form if you would like to attend the Tea Dance so we can ensure a seat is reserved for you.

At 3pm, the children will be ‘evacuated’ and travel via train to a holding post where they will stay overnight (the school hall – but don’t tell them!) and be looked after by our very own ‘Billeting Officer’ and his assistants. This is a wonderful experience for all of the children and they always thoroughly enjoy it so it would be great if your child would like to get involved! From 8.30 am every day during SATs Week (9th-12th May) we will be providing free hot chocolate and toast for any year 6 children who would like to come in early.

As a celebration to mark all of the children’s hard work at the end of the Key Stage 2 tests, we have arranged for the children to have a ‘pizza party’ on Friday afternoon.

We would be grateful if you are able to send in a voluntary contribution of £1.00 towards the cost of this celebration.
