Family Night will be on Dec. 5 from 6-8 pm. Treasurer’s Report: Judi was unable to attend tonight’s meeting. Co-Presidents’ Report: Teacher requests include: Requests for copies of the Reading Olympic Books; it was decided that one copy of every book would be given to Mrs. Ardoline and Mrs. Kerick, who can then distribute them. All agreed to this proposal. Seat sacks were requested by Ms. Gordy. Due to the expense, Ms. Gordy will be asked to find cheaper alternatives. Samantha offered to get estimate and return with it to the PTO. The DJ from walk-a-thon night lost approximately $1000 worth of equipment at Mrs. Mingey’s flash mob. It was unanimously approved that the PTO reimburse him $500.00. Assistance was sought with regard to the buddy bench. Mrs. Popiel will explain to all the children the meaning of the buddy bench. Committee Updates Walk-a-thon: $10,495 was made. This was Betsy’s last chairing of this event.  Huge thanks to Mrs. Fairman, for all her help. The Sunshine Club will send her something in thanks. The PTO will also give her something on Administrative Assistant’s Day. Many alternative ideas were bandied about for the walk-a-thon. After-school Clubs: the Art Club is filled with first and second graders. The next session will be comprised of all second graders. Kelly Garrison is the Art Club teacher. Adult Socials: October 24 is the first adult social of the year. It’s a Beef-and-Beer at McGillicuddy’s. Adopt-A-School: Our school for this year is Bayer-Taylor Elementary School in North Philadelphia. We’ve already provided them with a truck-full of school supplies. Mrs. Mingey is part of the liaison to the school. Future thoughts are to provide to them the books from the Book Drive and to provide baskets of food for Thanksgiving for children whose families would otherwise have no Thanksgiving. Homeroom Parents: the meeting tonight went well. The thought was voiced that there may be no posters made for Teacher Appreciation Day. Young Writers’ Day: Mary Beth Lauer will get back to Jill with regard to the teachers who are coming. The idea was proposed that, if there are not enough parent volunteers to act as chaperones, the students might be used instead. Spirit Shop: Another request will be sent out for volunteers to help in Spirit Shop. New Business: Learning Express Fundraiser: This will occur during American Education week, Nov. 17-21.
