Career Exploration:

1. Click on the link “Holland Code Explained” to learn about the Holland Code assessment. 2. Take the Holland code assessment by clicking on “Take The Holland Code Assessment” on the OCT website. Once finished write your top three areas below.

3. After documenting your three top 3 areas, click on “Careers Associated with Holland Code Outcomes” link. This shows a list of occupations that are directly related to each of the 6 interest areas. Looking at your top three is only necessary.

4. In the box below write down the occupation (s) that is directly related to the specialty or trade you are currently working towards…ex. Welding, dental hygiene, computer programming. etc..

5. Using the “look up wage s” link, find the median hourly wage for the occupation written down in question 4. This information could be retrieved 3 ways:

1) Click on the category associated with your occupation. This will show you occupations only associated with that area

2) Click on edit, then select “find on page” and type in the name of the occupation

3) Slowly scroll down till you find the occupation.

1. Conduct a job search using all the job search links provided in the job search section on the OCT website. Look for occupations that you are interested in doing.

2. Write down 2 websites that you found the most helpful

3. Feel free to register for work with the Virginia Employment Commission. Once in the system, they contact you as openings become available in the field you selected. They also have computers, and employment counselors to help you look for work and correspond with employers.
