CIS 2010 – Lab 5 Team Assignments for Second Life Build-out Spring 2008

Teams 4 & 7: Landscaping (This includes not only getting trees, shrubs, fountains, etc., but it also includes a new terraform design; i.e., based upon your renditions, we can change the actual appearance of the CIS 2010 area…create mountains, valleys, plains, rivers, etc.). If you wish to do a terraform, turn in a complete design and we’ll completely restructure the land mass.

Teams 2 & 5: Building external architecture (build the structures, where building will be placed, what will the functionality be for each, how many are needed for future CIS 2010 classes). Keep in mind that future sessions of CIS 2010 may be conducted in partnership with other universities.

Teams 3 & 6: Building internal architecture (create the interiors necessary for the building. This includes tables, chairs, mirrors, viewing stands, lecture podiums, student space for tutorials so they aren’t on top of each other, etc. Make sure the interiors fit the building’s functionality. E.g., a classroom building will need student space; while a pure lecture hall will need a podium and audience seating. BE CREATIVE…THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX).

Teams 1 & 8: Create a business or game that will “fun” for someone to use. These should include multiple modules (stations) in case some students have to wait to get involved in an invited session. You may want to coordinate with the external architecture team. You will responsible for the project management of this effort. You will coordinate team activities and develop timelines for tasks to be completed. Work with the Team Leaders. In addition, create teleport stations, and any other scripts that would be applicable and useful for an educational island. I strongly suggest you assign team 1 to creating the modules; while team 8 is used as the project management team.
