Ryde Zone Swimming Carnival

Ryde Zone Swimming Carnival 2015 Ryde Aquatic Centre Tuesday 10th March, 2015

Cost: $10 per competitor

Entry: Schools may enter 2 competitors for each event except relays, where only one team for each event may be entered. You do not need to indicate the names of your relay team. Your school name will be used to enter the relay teams for this year.

Time: Gates open at 8:30am and first marshalling call will be at 8:45am.

Qualifying: There are no qualifying times except for 200m Individual medley events. Junior boys and girls – 5 minutes Senior boys and girls – 4 mins 30 If you do not run a medley at your carnival or run it in a different sized pool please get times from club records. All other events – please make sure competitors are able to swim the stroke correctly for the required distance.

The following events will be run as timed finals: - 100m Freestyle - 200m Individual Medley - 50m Butterfly - Relays These races will be seeded.

All other events will have heats and finals for the eight fastest qualifiers.

Officials: All schools are required to provide two teachers to act as officials for both days of the carnival. Parents may be used as team managers. Small schools can send one official like they have in the past. Please send the name of the two teachers that will be attending for both days to [email protected] . A job will be allocated to each teacher.

Entering Your Team We are using the Nick Belling Software as the recording system this year. There has been some changes to how you will need to enter your team. Please make sure you open and fill in both the excel document and the word document and read the instructions carefully below. 1) Open the excel file ‘zone entries’ 2) Before you enter your data save the file to your computer using the ‘save as’ and renaming it your ‘school entries’ (example ‘ryde entries’) 3) Enter your data on the spreadsheet. There are also some ‘extra notes for entries’ Please read below before you start entering. 4) Open the word file ‘competitors events’ 5) Write the name of your school up the top. Fill in the tables with the name of the students swimming in each event. This will help when entering students into the database. Please write First name followed by last name with no comma e.g Lucy Besson. Please remember to supply a time for the 200m IM, 100m Freestyle, 50m Butterly events. You will also need to do an approximate time for each of your relay team. You can work this out by adding up their 50m freestyle times. You do not need to specify the names of your swimmers for the relay teams though. Your school name is fine. 6) Once all your competitors are entered email the completed excel document and word document to [email protected] 7) If you have any questions or get stuck at any stage please email Lucy Besson at the above email address.

Extra Notes for Entries Please submit (via email) your entries on the spreadsheet attached. Note – • Do not change the formatting of any cells or change/remove the column tiles • You DO NOT need to write last name in caps lock. e.g Besson can be entered for the LAST field ; Lucy entered for the FIRST field • The gender field must contain either the letters “M” or “F” • The DOB field must be in the format “DD/MM/YYYY” • The houses field will contain your school name. Please ensure that all data in the House column is spelled consistently (e.g if on entrant is from “Ryde East” and another is “RYDE EAST”, two different schools will be created. Just use the name of your school minus Public School in this column (no need to use acronyms e.g Eastwood Heights instead of EH).
