CESA 5 Is Pleased to Offer This Series of Educational Workshops Designed to Strengthen

CESA 5 is pleased to offer this series of educational workshops designed to strengthen the knowledge of student information system users. The workshops will provide valuable information on a host of topics. Our experienced trainers will present instructional sessions that will reinforce user skills and enhance their capability to use student information systems.

All workshops are held at CESA 5 626 E. Slifer St. Portage, WI Directions are available at www.cesa5.k12.wi.us

Start and end times are 8:30 – 3:30 pm unless otherwise noted.

Lunch is provided

Cost of each workshop is $400 per person per day o 50% discount for participants from a district with a CESA 5 Bronze Value Added contract o 75% discount for participants from a district with a CESA 5 Silver/Gold/Platinum Value Added contract

A minimum enrollment is required for all workshops, CESA 5 reserves the right to cancel a workshop due to insufficient enrollment

Users are asked to bring with them a notebook computer that they are able to log into from a remote location. Make sure you have a password to login if it is not your normal computer. A power supply and a mouse if also great to bring along.

Web Based Gradebook (HALF DAY ONLY) August 27, 2010

Users will get a look at PowerTeacher & Web Based gradebook with all of its latest functionality. Both traditional and standards based grading will be covered – NOW is the time to move your standards into the gradebook!

Starting the School Year/Reports Update August 30, 2010 -PM

Users will get the opportunity to receive help starting the school year off right! A sample of topics to be discussed are verifying attendance codes, FTE’s, bell schedules, calendars and final grade setup. This workshop will also include the opportunity for users to update report cards, object reports and or mail labels. Basic help will also be available to create new object reports.

New Secretary Training September 8, 2010 Users new to student information systems will get a firsthand look and practice at performing the basic functions needed to be a successful user. A sample of topics to be covered is: navigation, mass change functions, attendance, student field value, searching & many more!

New Administrator Training September 8, 2010

Users new to the Admin side of your student information system will get a firsthand look and practice at performing the basic functions needed to be a successful user. A sample of topics to be covered is: navigation, searching, discipline items, log entries, stored selections & many more!

State Reports Update/ISES Work Day September 15, 2010

This session will focus on how to enter data into the necessary fields in your student information system for ISES and WSN reports. Use of PS reports to keep ISES and WSN up to date will also be covered. FAQ’s will be addressed and participants will have the opportunity to ask additional questions. Information will be provided on the DPI changes for these reports. Participants will have time to work on their ISES data for End of Year 09-10 submission with consultants available to answer questions.

New Reporting Too (Half Day ONLY) September 24, 2010 AND October 13, 2010 Users will get the opportunity to learn about and create custom reports using the latest and greatest in report making. Object reports will soon become an item of the past – learn how to create your custom reports using PowerSchools latest and greatest tool.

End of Term/Report Cards Workshop October 14, 2010

Users will learn how to store grades at the end of the grading period, create report cards, calculate honor roll and set their historical grades to calculate the number of credits completed and the number of credits still needed for graduation.

Managing Grades and Academic Data October 21, 2010

Take this course to learn the basic skills of using PowerSchool student information system to enter, manage, and report on a student academic data. This course is focused primarily on entering and tracking transcripts and historical grade information. Additionally, it explains how to track graduation progress, monitor at-risk students, and review student activity eligibility. Audience: Registrars, Counselors, PowerSchool Administrators.

Customizing your Student Information System November 5, 2010 Users will leave this workshop with a greater understanding on how to customize your system to fit your school district’s particular needs. Custom fields and custom screens will be covered in great detail. This is a hands-on workshop, so users should bring ideas and current pages to work on.

PowerSchool Communication Tools November 19, 2010

When it comes to communication, PowerSchool offers a variety of tools that school administrative staff can use to effectively share information with students, parents, and staff members. This course introduces you to these communication tools and shows you how to create your own form letters, mailing labels, reports cards, reports, rosters, and daily bulletins. Accessing your Student Information System Data December 9, 2010

In this session participants will learn how to use the importing and exporting functionality of your student information system. Storing of Test Data in PS will be discussed in addition to searching for data in DDE, exporting data out, manipulation of data in excel, and importing data into your system. Use of export templates will also be covered. This session is designed for intermediate to advanced users.

Prepare to Schedule Workshops January 13, 2011 or February 2, 2011

This popular workshop is being offered twice so choose the date that is best for you. The workshop will cover creating the new scheduling year, setting up scheduling parameters, and bringing your students into PowerScheduler. The creation of course request pages and inputting the student course requests for next year will be covered. Bring along your student course request requirements for each grade level so your screens can be completed. The workshop will lead into the Prepare to Build workshop or Schedule Load workshop.

Prepare to Build Workshop February 22, 2011

Designed for schools that will be using the system to build their master schedule, the workshop will cover entering schedule parameters, teacher assignments, rooms, build constraints, and course relationships. Data validation to begin scheduling courses will be covered as well. This workshop is a follow-up to Prepare to Schedule and is a prerequisite to the Build Schedule workshop.

Build Schedule Workshops March 23-24-25, 2011

Participants will work on using the master schedule builder to build their actual master schedule and will be using their live school data. Based on the complexity of the school’s schedule and the preparation of the data, participants will need to attend two, three, or all four days of the workshop. The workshop is a follow-up to the Prepare to Build workshop, which is a prerequisite. Schedule Load Workshop (HALF DAY ONLY!) April 28, 2011

This workshop is for those schools that have not used the system to build their master schedule. Participants will be shown how to enter a new master schedule or copy last year’s master schedule. Using load constraints, validating date, pre-load and post-load reports will be covered. This workshop is a follow-up to the Prepare to Schedule workshop.

End of Year/State Report Workshop June 22, 2011

This workshop will focus on the various state reports that need to be generated at the end of the school year. Reports that can be run to help correct and verify data before the end of the school year will be reviewed. Participants will learn the process of closing out the current school year and getting your system ready to begin a new school year.
