Purpose and Instructions for completing “Assessment of Learning Outcomes Form – Course Level”
Purpose
Assessment related to courses occur in different ways. Student performance is assessed by the various instruments used in testing the student and the grades assigned for that performance. Professor and course performance are assessed through the student evaluations, academic dean’s evaluation of course grade distribution and the professor’s self evaluation during the annual review.
In order to more fully comply with the ATS and MSA-CHE requirements for learning outcomes assessment each course needs to be assessed in terms of how the learning goals (expected learning outcomes) were achieved in the course itself. In other words to what extent did the students learn what was stated in the course syllabus. In this assessment specific learning outcomes are evaluated by the professor.
