Men S Play-Off Games for July 18, 2005

Minor Ball Hockey Association of Edmonton INFORMATION LETTER TO ALL MINOR COACHES (May 01 – 2015)

1) As of MAY 01, all teams must either wear full length sweat pants or shorts. You must pick one or the other, no combinations are allowed. Whether you choose shorts or sweats, they do NOT have to be matching in color.

2) The deadline for adding any new players will be game #8 … this is your first game after the re-tiering is done. Remember, new additions must register through the Minor office and players must have approval before they can play.

3) Coaches are reminded that you need to have your kids ready to go on time. If a team starts at 1:00pm, your players should be at the gate, ready to go. You will have a full 5-minute warm-up if your team is ready to go. Some games have started up to 10 minutes late because teams are not ready to go at the slated start time.

4) Re-Tiering will be done after teams play their first 7-games of the season. Teams are moved up & down based on first-half results and game scores. The Committee that makes the movements appreciate any comments/suggestions … please make sure you get your e-mail to the league by May 10th.

5) Some of our coaches need to relax a bit when it comes to officials. We have a total of 16 new officials this year, and they need to learn as they go along. We try to match-up a new referee with a veteran for each game, but it does not always work out. Blasting these new officials does absolutely no good. How are they ever going to learn and get better if some coaches constantly yell at them? They will get frustrated and quit. Do you want to step on the floor and referee games? Then please cut them some slack.

6) Again, some of the coaches are approaching referees and telling them how they should officiate games. What makes you an expert? We have a Technical Director that watches these new referees. If they need advise, they will get it from him or from some of our veteran officials. If you have an issue with any official, please send an e-mail to the league office and it will be forwarded to our head referee. Abusive coaches will be ejected from games, and if it becomes an issue, we will ask some coaches to step down.

7) Stats corrections and number corrections can be sent to the office, and we will get to them and fix-up any issues. Please send them to Shirley @ our Minor office,

[email protected] 8) Information on the 2015 Alberta Minor Ball Hockey Provincial Championships (which will be held in Medicine Hat) and the Western Canadian Championships (to be hosted in Surrey, BC) is attached to this letter. If you have any questions, our President JEFF ROMAINE will handle all inquiries. We still have some open spots for teams who may be interested in playing at Provincials and/or Westerns.

Thank-you for your help, and we wish you all the best for the rest of this 2015 season! All the best from the Executive of Minor Ball Hockey Association of Edmonton!
