Kia Is the Official Car of the Davis Cup

KIA IS THE OFFICIAL CAR OF THE DAVIS CUP

Following on from its decision earlier this year to back the Australian Open until 2008, Kia has become the official car of the Davis Cup for the next three years, further enhancing the Korean car maker’s links with one of the world’s most exciting and dynamic sports.

The unique and vigorous combination of innovation and tradition represented by the Davis Cup is in line with Kia’s brand image and Kia's sponsorship of the Australian Tennis Open, which, in 2003, continues in its second year and which has been extended until 2008.

“We are delighted to be part of the Davis Cup and honoured to be able to link our name with one of the world’s most extraordinary and, with a 103 history, one of the world’s most celebrated sporting events,” says Jean-Charles Lievens, Vice President of Kia Motors Europe. ”Following the successful launch of four new models in 2003, including the Sorento, Kia will continue enhancing its profile as a young, sporty, and high-quality brand. Tennis reflects these brand values perfectly. Therefore, we are confident that our close relationship with the Davis Cup will be a significant step in growing awareness of Kia.”

Having achieved record sales on the in 2002, Kia will continue expanding its model line-up, with a total of 11 new vehicles set for launch over the next three years.

“We are looking forward to working closely with Kia over the next three years,” said ITF President Francesco Ricci Bitti. “Kia is an innovative and dynamic company and an excellent fit for the illustrious 103 year old Davis Cup, the largest annual international team competition in sport".

The Davis Cup is the largest annual team competition in sport with 142 nations entered in 2003. The title sponsor is BNP Paribas, the Official Bank of Davis Cup. Kia Motors joins international sponsors Adecco (Recruitment), Hugo Boss (Men's Fashion) and Ajilon (IT Recruitment and Managed Services). Colt Telecom and Wilson are Official Partners of Davis Cup.
