Dear Injured Worker:
It is important you understand the requirements you must meet to receive working wage loss benefits (WWL). If you have any questions about WWL after reading this letter, please contact me.
The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) pays WWL benefits to injured workers who continue to have restrictions based on the allowed conditions in their claims but who have returned to work and earn less than they did prior to their injury because of those restrictions. The goal of WWL is to assist the injured worker to return to the same earning potential as the injury position.
To be eligible to receive WWL you must:
1. Complete an Application for Wage Loss Compensation (C-140); 2. Provide proof of earnings every four weeks by submitting a copy of your pay stub, a payroll report from your employer, or a notarized Wage Statement (C-94-A); 3. Provide an updated report of restrictions every 90 days if your restrictions are temporary or every 180 days if your restrictions are permanent.
BWC may require injured workers who return to work but make significantly less than they earned or work less hours than they did at the time of injury to perform a job search to be eligible for WWL. Your assigned customer service specialist will discuss this with you if BWC will require you to perform a job search.
If you have any questions regarding these requirements, please call me at the number listed below. Information regarding the status of your claim and other services provided by BWC is available at ohiobwc.com.
