Hyundai New Generation i30 adds to trophy cabinet
‘Made for Europe’ model wins prestigious industry award in Turkey Further accolades secured in six other European countries Sales exceed 74.000 units since rolled-off from production line March 2012
Offenbach, 29 January 2013
The Hyundai New Generation i30 celebrated a successful first nine month on sale by winning yet another industry award.
Competing in Europe’s hottest contested C-segment, the New Generation i30 was recently crowned ‘Car of the Year’ by Turkey’s Top Gear magazine. Since rolling off the production line nine months ago, the model has attracted customers to the brand with its combination of great design, low running costs, safety and practicality. This latest award is further testament to the relevance of Hyundai’s ‘made for Europe’ product strategy.
The New Generation i30 has also picked up key awards in the Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia and the UK. The car’s successes culminated in it being shortlisted for the most prestigious award in the region, the European Car of the Year.
Allan Rushforth, Senior Vice President and COO at Hyundai Motor Europe, commented: “It’s been an incredible introduction for the New Generation i30, a car that represents our centre of gravity in Europe. It epitomises how far we’ve come and demonstrates everything that makes Hyundai’s products so appealing to European customers. Competing in one of the most competitive segments in Europe, it continues to win praise, and trophies, for its style, safety levels, practicality, comfort, efficiency and value. Being the first Hyundai to be shortlisted for European Car of the Year shows what a compelling proposition the New Generation i30 is.”
Since being launched, the i30 five-door model has been joined by wagon and three-door variants, giving customers a choice of the three best-selling body-styles in the segment.
A truly European product, the New Generation i30 was designed in Germany by a team led by Hyundai Motor Europe’s Chief Designer, Thomas Bürkle, and features a striking interpretation of the company’s fluidic sculpture design language. Developed at the

The design qualities of Hyundai New Generation i30, conceived and developed at Hyundai Motor Europe’s Technical Centre in Rüsselsheim, Germany, were recognised with two titles – ‘Best Interior’ and ‘Best Exterior’ – at the prestigious Automotive Brand Contest, organised by the German Design Council.
New Generation i30 was awarded the maximum five-star safety rating by independent vehicle assessment organisation, Euro NCAP, marking it out as one of the safest cars in class. The vehicle has also been highly-rated by independent analysts (Eurotax, L’Argus and Quattroruote), who have predicted it will retain its value well.
Every New Generation i30 receives Hyundai’s award-winning Five Year Triple Care package, providing a five-year warranty with no mileage limit, five years of roadside assistance, and five years of vehicle health checks. -Ends-
