Jeff Mohr – 1st Vice President ATVBC
In my fifth year as a director of ATVBC I have attended and participated in all the meetings and conference calls. As VP I accept the responsibility associated with the position and have worked hard at being involved in the Executive.
I have been riding ATVs for approximately 12 years. Marlaine and I continue to enjoy riding in the Bobtail/Norman Lake Area with family, friends and fellow Club members. With the planning for the 2011 Jamboree I have a new appreciation for the Tabor Mountain area and the Tabor Mountain Recreation Society.
Some of the activities I have participated and been involved in over the past year include:
Within ATVBC I am involved with the following o Part of the Land Issues Committee with Don Frew and Terry Wardrop. o Field director for the Prince George ATV Club, the Ridgeriders ATV Club, Right Nuts ATV Club and the Houston ATV Club. Have also been talking with some avid ATVers in Wells (thanks to George Hohnisch and Barry Anderson of the PG ATV Club for setting the meeting up and participating) and they are in the process of forming a club in the area. o Continue to talk with ATVers in Tumbler Ridge and Smithers about forming Clubs and becoming part of ATVBC. o A member of the standing Finance Committee with Moira Jaatteenmaki, Bev Felske and Elly Pitre. o As of October 2008 I am a Certified CSC ATV and added UTV certification in 2010 as well as being certified to teach the CASI ATV Rider Course (certified in 2010). I am continuing to conducted classes with the Ridgeriders ATV Club and the Prince George ATV Club and find that everyone either learns something new or the course gives a new slant to what they already know. With every class I continue to learn from the students thus improving my own riding skills o Along with Gordon Galloway I am part of the Insurance Committee. o I am continuing with the Youth School Education program. o Filled the vacancy on the R & L, JAG committee and am actively involved in the legislative process as well as bringing myself up to speed on the information presented prior to my getting involved. Member at Large for Tabor Mountain Recreation Society, helping with the preparation of their operating plan and working with the Prince George ATV Club to maintain the trails. Participated with members of the PG ATV Club, the Ridgeriders ATV Club and the Northern Trailblazers ATV Club in a Mantracker event with Scouts (Rovers) from Prince George. Was an interesting experience and looking forward to participating with them again. Continue to be part of the Northern Gateway Pipeline Community Advisory Board (CAB). The 13th meeting of this group was in June this year and the opportunity to make new contacts and promote ATVing safety and tourism has gone over well. As the project progresses and the review process continues I will be attending more meetings doing my best to provide a voice for ATVers and motorized recreation in general. I also continue to participate in the Public Advisor Group (PAG) for TFL 30 and the Prince George Sustainable Forest Management Plan (PG SFMP) with Lee Sexsmith from the Prince George Snowmobile Club thus ensuring representation for Non-Commercial Motorized Recreation. I have been involved with the AQCC (All Terrain Quad Council of Canada) with Zan Boyle and appreciate the opportunity to participate in and learn more on a National Level.
Continuing involvement with the Land Issues Committee has allowed me to improve my knowledge and enhance my main focus and the reason I initially got involved with ATVBC, which is protecting our right to ride.
