The NGIIF addresses next-generation network interconnection and interoperability issues associated with emerging technologies. Specifically, it develops operational procedures which involve the network aspects of architecture, disaster preparedness, installation, maintenance, management, reliability, routing, security, and testing between network operators. In addition, the NGIIF addresses issues which impact the interconnection of existing and next generation networks and facilitate the transition to emerging technologies. 1.1 NPA - Numbering Plan Area Code Identifies a geographical area and permits calls to be routed to the proper destination.
USAGE: This field is required.
NOTE 1: The NPA code, combined with "the Central Office Unit Code (COC)", is the destination code reported.

1.2 NXX - Central Office Code Identifies, within a NPA, an exchange telephone switching entity used for access to tandems and testboards.

1.4 100 Type Test Line - Quiet Termination Provides a termination consisting of 900 or 600 ohms (depending on office impedance) in series with a 2.16 MF capacitor.

1.8 105 Type Test Line - Automatic Transmission Measuring Provides far-end access to a responder and permits 2-way loss and noise measurements to be made on trunks from a near-end office equipped with a Remote Office Test Line (ROTL) and responder or other suitable control device. 105-type test lines may be associated with one common responder.

1.9 107 Type Test Line - Data Transmission Test Line Identifies a connection to a signal source that provides test signals for 1 way testing of data and voice transmission parameters. The test line provides a Peak-to-Average Ration (P/AR) signal, gain slope frequencies, quiet termination, and intermodulation-distortion test signals. It also allows measurement of return loss, frequency shift, phase jitter, C-notched noise, impulse noise, gain hits, phase hits, and dropouts.

1.10 108 Type Test Line - Non-Inverting Loopback Provides for digital testing capabilities between digital exchanges and/or digital PBX's.

1.11 109 Type Test Line - Echo Canceller Testing Provides loopback arrangements for in-service testing of far-end echo cancellers.

1.12 606 Type Test Line - Inverting Loopback The digital loopback/complement test line provides operation and digital testing capability for switched digital trunks.
USAGE: This field is required.
NOTE 1: This test line used for diagnostic (routine and demand) tests to digital switching system trunks.

1.13 103 Type Test Line - Signal-Supervisory Testing Provides a connection to a supervisory and signaling test circuit for overall testing of these features on intertoll trunks equipped with ring forward (re-ring) features that can be reached by an automatic trunk test frame or by dialing manually.

1.14 AnaLog Around Test Line Provides for the interconnection of two lines or trunks to facilitate two-way loss measurements from the distant end.
USAGE: This field is required.
NOTE 1: The Loop Around Test Line is used in conjunction with a line or trunk of known loss, selected as a reference.

6 1.15 Signal-Supervisory Testing/Synchronous Test Line (No 10X Code Assigned) Indicates a test line number which provides access to a synchronous test line.
USAGE: This field is required.
NOTE 1: Synchronous test lines are required for offices where ringing, tripping and supervisory features are in the incoming trunk relay equipment. Marginal tests of the supervisory and tripping functions are provided.

1.16 Nonsynchronous Test Line Provides and operational test which is not as complete as the synchronous test but can be made more rapidly.

1.17 Short Circuit Test Line Identifies a test line number that denotes an arrangement in an end office which provides for an AC short circuit termination of a trunk or line by means of a capacitor of at least four microfarads.
USAGE: This field is required.

1.18 Open Circuit Test Line Identifies a test line number that denotes an arrangement in an end office which provides an AC open circuit termination of a trunk or line by means of an inductor of several Henrys.
USAGE: This field is required.

7 1.19 Company Name Identifies the name of the Exchange/Interexchange Carrier providing the test number/line information.
NOTE: Company name should appear at top, right-hand corner of each page of the Directory.
