LAPTOP Computer Requirements – 2012/2013 For students passing Sophomore Review Operating System1  Microsoft® Windows® 7 64-bit

 i7 Intel processor

Memory and Hard Drive2  8 GB RAM  500 GB Hard Drive or larger

Monitor and Graphics  15”-16” monitor size, minimum3  512 MB dedicated graphics card

Software Required  Microsoft Office Home and Student (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)

 Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro)

 AutoDesk AutoCAD and REVIT4

Other  Play/Burn DVD’s and CD’s

 Wireless Mouse

 Your computer must be able to run AutoDesk AutoCAD and Revit Architecture. For current software system requirements please see www.autodesk.com. It is recommended you build your computer to run this software.

 Most big-box stores do NOT sell a system that meets these requirements ‘on the shelf’ so make sure you leave enough time to order directly from the manufacturer so they can build to suit. Let them know you are a student for any discounts that may be available.

 Students are encouraged to wait until they have been accepted into the interior design program to purchase a laptop as technology changes very quickly. If purchasing prior to acceptance into the interior design program consider purchasing memory and hard drives beyond the minimum requirements listed above.

 Please note if you decide to purchase a Mac, the AutoCAD interface is 100% different than the Windows operating system, which is taught in ADHM 365.

Notes

1 The faster the processor/rpm’s, the faster your computer ‘thinks’ which will help you out greatly when working with modeling software. 2Minimum recommendations to run modeling software.
