PAUL NICHOLAS STARS IN PIRATES OF PENZANCE AT

CHURCHILL THEATRE BROMLEY

Carl Rosa Opera and Orchestra return to the Churchill Theatre Bromley from 20 - 24 April with The Pirates of Penzance. Following a triumphant West End run in 2008, the Pirates are back, and the Churchill Theatre is thrilled to announce that Paul Nicholas is taking the role of the Pirate King. The much loved, acclaimed actor who became a household name playing Vince in Just Good Friends is now all set to be a swashbuckling sensation in this lively rendition of Pirates!

Nicholas is no stranger to Carl Rosa Opera’s work, having starred as Jack Point in The Yeomen of the Guard at the 2009 Tower of London Festival. Paul’s many credits span stage and screen, from the original London production of Hair through to his recent role in ITV1’s The Royal Today. Other television and theatre credits include: Déjà vu, Doctors, Heartbeat, Holby City, The Bill, Burnside, Sunburn and Close to Home, as well as lead stage roles in Jesus Christ Superstar and Grease with Elaine Page.

Set in Penzance in the 1890s, orphaned pirates, flat-footed policemen and a bevy of blushing maidens (the pretty daughters of Major General Stanley), all cross paths in The Pirates of Penzance making for a perfect Gilbert & Sullivan sparkling plot! This colourfully costumed production, revived with vivacity by Carl Rosa Opera’s Artistic Director Peter Mulloy together with Steve Elias, stunningly brings to life the original period setting. Regarded by many as the most gloriously topsy-turvy of Gilbert & Sullivan’s works, this stunning Carl Rosa Opera production is a fantastic theatrical treat for all the family to enjoy.
