SIBLYBACK - FISHING BOAT REGULATIONS

The reservoirs are covered by Fishing and General Regulations and Siblyback Lake has its own CODE OF CONDUCT with which anglers should familiarise themselves before beginning to fish.

1. Boats are available from Siblyback Watersports Centre and only to holders of a valid fishing permit and a boat permit. Maximum speed on the lake is 5 mph for electrically powered fishing boats.

2. Boats available from 9.00 am and must be returned no later than sunset or earlier if instructed by Watersports Centre or Ranger.

3. No persons shall embark in any boat without wearing an approved buoyancy aid or life jacket.

4. Children under 16 years may only embark in any boat if accompanied by an adult.

5. A boat permit is personal to the angler named on it and is NOT TRANSFERABLE. Only two persons are permitted in any boat with the named angler and no more than two persons may fish from any boat at any time.

6. Waders or studded boots shall not be worn in any boat.

7. Dogs may only accompany anglers with prior permission.

8a. Fishing boats must keep 25m clear of bank anglers and other boat anglers and must not pass closer to the dam than the white shore markers. Mooring to buoys is prohibited. Trolling or trailing a fishing line behind a fishing boat is prohibited. b. Normally sailing boats will give way to fishing boats but during official races fishing boats should give way to sail and are required to stay clear of the sailing course.

9. The Boats must be returned to the place of hiring and secured after use.

10. The hirer is responsible for leaving the boat tidy and any damage must be reported to the site staff.

11. If, in the opinion of the Staff, weather conditions are unsuitable, all boat hirings may be cancelled. A notice to this effect will be posted in the permit hut.

12. The Trust reserves the right to withdraw boats at any time without notice.

13. The contravention of any boat regulation invalidates the fishing and boat permit. Offenders shall FORFEIT THEIR PERMIT AND CATCH and shall be required to leave the Trust’s property immediately. Further action, including prosecution and/or a ban, may follow.
