Job Introduction: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Stadium Safety Manager to be based at The Headingley Carnegie Stadium in Leeds The Stadium Safety Manager (SSM) is responsible for ensuring that Headingley Carnegie Stadium (HCS) meets the legislation and regulation requirements to enable all activities to take place in a safe and controlled environment. The SSM will have the full support and cooperation of all HCS stakeholders and will establish suitable systems and controls for the safety and security of spectators and all other persons in the stadium. Complying with the current document “Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds” (also referred to as The Green Guide) is central to this role. The post holder will ensure compliance and thereby ensure that the Safety Certificate and the Stadium Safety Policy are adhered to. The SSM will report directly to the HCS Board and work closely with both Stadium Facilities Managers to ensure wherever possible professional contracts and services sourced are shared. As required the SSM will report regularly to the HCS Board who will monitor and direct as appropriate. The SSM will also work directly with the venue Head of Operations during an upcoming exciting venue build. Role Responsibility: Ensuring full compliance with the current document “Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds” to make sure all activities are compliant with:  The requirements of the Stadium Safety Certificate and Stadium Safety Policy  Health and Safety at Work legislation  Fire Safety Legislation  Disability Discrimination Act  All Safety at Sports Grounds legislation  Civil Contingencies Legislation You will also be responsible for:  Carrying out safety audits as required  Attending all meetings on behalf of HCS to discuss any issues relating to the Safety Certificate  Maintaining an audit trail of appropriate records and documentation to support our Safety Certificate  Undertaking performance reviews and analyse development needs of your direct reports to ensure staff are appropriately trained in respect of health, safety and security issues  Liaising with the Local Authority, Police, Fire and Ambulance Services and any other body e.g. Safety Advisory Group in the relation to the maintenance of our Safety Certificate  Producing and keep under review a Stewards manual outlining their duties in both normal and emergency situations Where nominated as Event Safety Officer the Post Holder will perform the role in accordance with “The Green Guide”. Where there is an event under the control of a nominated Event Safety Officer the sucessful candidate will support the Safety Officer in all aspects of Stadium Safety in compliance with “The Green Guide”. The SSM will constantly review the Clubs’ Safety Policy Statement and inform the HCS Board of all matters that are considered an improvement of spectator safety and/or changes to documentation. The HCS Board will act as the final decision making body in the event of any disputes. Training The SSM should ensure that all events staff on duty receive training in or are made aware of  The action to take in the event of fire or other emergency  Basic First Aid  The Club’s contingency plans  The Club’s safety policy and health and safety policy statement Records In conjunction with both SFMs develop a system to ensure that records are collected and maintained of all safety tests and/or inspections carried out in the ground and other aspects of safety as required by and in accordance with The Green Guide. These records will be part of those required to be kept for the whole stadium in accordance with The Green Guide and must be kept at the Club/stadium's premises and be available for inspection by any duly authorised person.

The Ideal Candidate: Essential Requirements  Must have evidenced experience of fulfilling a similar role of spectator safety management at sporting events.  Must live in commuting distance to the stadium.  Personal circumstances must allow the candidate to work extended and flexible hours on occasion during times of peak activity including weekends and public holidays.  The ability to communicate to a high standard with clients, public, contractors and staff at all levels, both within and outside of the business.  Must be “customer service” driven, with evidence of a strong client focus.  Must have a hands-on and practical approach.  Must demonstrate the highest professional standards of operation and service.  Must be able to work with little supervision and manage time and priorities accordingly.  Must have a flexible and resilient attitude.  Must be able to make effective decisions in line with organisational goals and objectives.  Must have the stamina and perseverance to cope with heavy workloads and the tendency to behave appropriately in pressurised or stressful situations.  5 years checkable work history  Unrestricted right to work in the UK/EU  Fluent written and spoken English Ideal Requirements  Hold an N.V.Q. Level 4 Qualification in Spectator Safety.  Hold or be working towards a NEBOSH General Diploma.  Relevant qualifications in Health and Safety and further relevant qualifications in Safety Management would be an advantage.
