Digital Measures Steering Committee Update on Progress to Academic Dean’s Council 10-28-2014

Background Dean requests to streamline use and achieve greater value Steering committee commissioned by Provost late 2013 Representatives from each college and several VP units Committee responsibilities, objectives, scope, etc developed with Deans

Primary Objectives Enhance data integrity, consistency, ease of use, security and access Use system capabilities to support multiple university processes Realize enhanced communication with Dean’s offices, departments, faculty and university bodies Balance level of effort required to record information, and its potential value Report Vision 2020 key performance indicators Aggregate and communicate the depth, breadth, impact and outcomes of instruction, research, creative activity, scholarship, community engagement, extension, service and outreach Leverage portfolio in seeking external funding, recruiting students, cultivating donors and engaging communities

Progress Business College system and Library system merged with University system Arts & Sciences implemented an academic year evaluation cycle Use of particular fields of information examined Educational background opened to faculty edit Security and access form developed Electronic course load under consideration Discussion of population in the Digital Measures system

Enhancement Project Gather expertise, specialties, countries, languages, participants, student innovators, internships, citations, etc Seek faculty input and engagement Mine information
