J. Keenan High School; and 26 27 Whereas, at the end of the third quarter, Burke was down to 28 Keenan, having not yet managed to pull ahead in the game. Senior 29 Sidney Robinson decided that it was time for Burke to hold the 30 lead. Having been benched for the majority of the third quarter due 31 to fouls, Sidney entered the game and scored eight points in the 32 final quarter to help propel the Bulldogs to victory. Wanting to get 33 the rally started, he quickly banked in a 3pointer to ignite a nine 34 point run; and 35 36 Whereas, the Bulldogs earned their first lead with 6:35 left on the 37 clock. Through points scored by Anthony Hill, Algernard Young, 38 Isaiah Holloway, Sidney Robinson, Delonza Simmons, Marquez 39 Watson, Peterio Brown, and Khyree Thompson, Burke secured 40 their fourth state championship in the program’s history; and 41
[3941] 2 1 Whereas, in a sport that demands agility and skill, Coach Deon 2 Richardson capitalized on his own athletic ability and training to 3 forge a championshipcaliber team and teach these athletes lessons 4 that will prove invaluable through life both on and off the court; 5 and 6 7 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 8 Representatives are grateful for the pride and recognition that the 9 young men of the Burke High School basketball team have 10 brought to their school and community and look forward to 11 hearing of their continued accomplishments in the days ahead. 12 Now, therefore, 13 14 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 15 16 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 17 by this resolution, recognize and honor the Burke High School 18 boys basketball team, coaches, and school officials for an 19 outstanding season and congratulate them for winning the 2017 20 Class AA Championship Title. 21 22 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 23 Principal Anna Dassing and Coach Deon Richardson. 24 XX 25
