Hart 10 Document Path: l:\council\bills\gm\24902cm17.docx 11 12 Introduced in the House on February 2, 2017 13 Adopted by the House on February 2, 2017 14 15 Summary: Byron Allan Eastman, Sr. 16 17 18 HISTORY OF LEGISLATIVE ACTIONS 19 20 Date Body Action Description with journal page number 21 2/2/2017 House Introduced and adopted ( House Journalpage 13) 22 23 View the latest legislative information at the website 24 25 26 VERSIONS OF THIS BILL 27 28 2/2/2017 29 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A HOUSE RESOLUTION 10 11 TO REMEMBER AND CELEBRATE THE LIFE OF BYRON 12 ALLAN EASTMAN, SR., OF RICHLAND COUNTY, AND TO 13 HONOR HIS DEVOTION AND COMMITMENT TO HIS 14 FAMILY, HIS STATE, AND HIS NATION. 15 16 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 17 Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of Byron 18 Allan Eastman, Sr., at the age of seventyeight on December 29, 19 2015; and 20 21 Whereas, born in Ancon, Canal Zone, Panama, Mr. Eastman 22 served with distinction in various locations with the United States 23 Army for twenty years before retiring with the rank of Staff 24 Sergeant; and 25 26 Whereas, a longtime resident of Columbia, he served as a 27 corrections officer with the South Carolina Department of 28 Corrections for twenty years before he retired again; and 29 30 Whereas, Mr. Eastman was married to his beloved wife, Delia 31 Poyser Eastman, for fifty years, and together they reared three fine 32 children: Vernell Rogers, Dr. Yvette Gamble, and Byron Eastman, 33 Jr. Their children blessed him with the affection of five 34 grandchildren: Chelsea and Joshua Rogers, Jordan Gamble, and 35 Marley and Mila Eastman; and 36 37 Whereas, through the years, Mr. and Mrs. Eastman graciously 38 opened their home to a number of nieces and nephews who lived 39 with them and enjoyed his knowledge of current events and 40 politics and his spirited conversation on a broad spectrum of 41 topics, coupled with his quick wit and engaging humor; and 42

[3640] 2 1 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 2 Representatives are grateful for the life and legacy of Byron 3 Eastman and for the example of service and kindness he set for all 4 who knew him. Now, therefore, 5 6 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 7 8 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 9 by this resolution, remember and celebrate the life of Byron Allan 10 Eastman, Sr., of Richland County, and honor his devotion and 11 commitment to his family, his State, and his nation. 12 13 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 14 the family of Byron Allan Eastman, Sr. 15 XX 16
