CALIFORNIA CRIMINAL SENTENCING ENHANCEMENTS 2012

Chuck Denton has been a contributor to the CEB publication California Criminal Sentencing Enhancements since the first edition. He will be discussing in detail how gang involvement can affect sentencing possibly even leading to life imprisonment.

Mr. Denton will discuss the many and complicated issues of:  Street Terrorism Enforcement and Prevention Act (STEP Act)

Conduct enhancement Elements of primary gang enhancements – pleading and proof Multiple enhancements Alternative penalty provisions

Evidentiary issues Admissibility Use of expert witnesses Attendees will learn how to evaluate evidence and possible sentencing enhancements in order to calculate maximum exposure.
